2000 Point Space Marine (First attempt)

Playing around with the idea of building a Space Marine army (I'm leaning towards Legion of the Damned themed even though this heavily breaks their fluff, but I love the models). Regardless here is the list I've come up with trying to be somewhat competitive.

HQ: Chapter Master (Wasn't sure if I can actually take both relics on him)
-Terminator Armor
-The Burning Blade
-The Shield Eternal
-Iron Hands Chapter Tactic

Elites: Assault Terminators x 5
-TH/SS x 5
-Land Raider Redeemer
-Multi Melta

Troops 1, 2, & 3
Tactical Squad x 10
-Multa Gun
-Lascannon
-Power Sword
-Melta Bombs
-Razor Back
-Twin-Linked Lascannon
*The Plan was to combat squads the three groups of tactical marines. Have the squad with the Melta Guns stick inside the razor backs and the ones with the Lascannons behind the Aegis Defense Line

Fortification: Aegis Defense Line
-Quad Gun

Heavy: Thunder Fire Cannon
Heavy 2 & 3: Vindicator

This list comes priced out to 1990. I did consider maybe using the new AA vehicles that just came out instead of two vindicators or maybe some devastators, but as it stands this is what I came up with. Just wanted some C&C on the idea.

I'm guessing your plan is to have the chapter master hop in the LR with the assault terminators. I have two major problems with both the chapter master and the fact that your terminators are in a land raider.

First of all, your chapter master is 235 points for a mediocre model. S7 hits for that many points just really sucks. I would recommend not even taking a chapter master. Instead if you are dead set on the TH/SS assault terminators go with Captain Lysander. He is 230 points and packs a S10 AP1 concussive master-crafted specialist weapon (unwieldy). He comes with terminator armor, iron halo, storm shield, and 5 attacks.

You also get imperial fists chapter tactics (re roll all to hit rolls of 1 with "bolt"anything and Dev squads and centurions get tank hunter and add 1 when rolling on the building damage table). This is something you left out of your army build (referring to a chapter tactic).

My second problem is that you have TH/SS terminators taking a land raider. If you have a storm shield, then you don't need a land raider in my oppinion.

Everything else looks like it could benefit from this, you also get about 250 some points to throw around now, which I would recommend either some more TH/SS termies or assault squads.

You seem to have a decent amount of anti tank (not great, but decent) with the vindicators and lascannon razorbacks, however I don't think you need the thunderfire cannon. They are great, they are amazing, but you have 2 vindicator pie plates, so instead I would suggest you take advantage of imperial fists chapter tactics and get a devastator squad for some extra anti AP.

Other than that, you seem to be able to take on hordes as well as MeQs, and you will be decent against AP spam if you throw in a devastator squad.
Edited for neatness

He says IH chapter tactics actualy, and I disagree somewhat. Instead of the hq take a term captain with th/ss bare, it's like 150 I think saves you 85 points. As with your term squad just charge everything and win. I love your list it's almost like mine.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
He says IH chapter tactics actualy, and I disagree somewhat.
Keep IH ct. Also keep the lr. How the hell are you supposed to deploy assault termies without it? They'd end up just walking around either getting avoided or shot to pieces.

With the chapter master I'd personally take a thunder hammer. With shield eternal he has the survivability to strike at initiative 1. Beast mode. Plus he'll be a little cheaper.

Just my 2c.

Cheers.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As for taking two relics, it might get faq'd that you can't, so watch for that.

Also, a tad light on AA, which might be ok in your circle.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Keep the chapter master!

Re:2000 Point Space Marine (First attempt)

Thanks for the feed back I really appreciate it. Don't get me wrong Lysander is a really good HQ, but two of the three Space Marine players at my FLGS already use Lysander (the third is a Salamanders player) and I'd rather have something custom like a Chapter Master that I can convert and be somewhat unique. As for the assault terminators, I think the Land Raider would be alright. In my opinion deep striking wouldn't really help much because they would take a lot of small arms fire then a couple low AP shots the turn they came in (and with my horrendous rolls I would find a way to fail five 2+ armor saves or 3++ invulns). As for walking them, I don't see the point in doing it unless I have a mass blob, even then it would work better to just deep strike them because anyone who sees Assault Terminators on the board is just going to try to wipe them out ASAP. An alternative to this list I was thinking was maybe swap out the vindicators for a squad a sky fire devastators to help a little bit more with AA, or even take one of the new tanks (Haven't seen one in action or even played against one to know how they do).

I wouldn't go with devestators unless you were IF. With IH ct you're better off keeping your heavies as armour based. Vindicators and land raiders go well together as you've got better threat saturation.
