New to modelling and tabletop warhammer (but i know a bucket about wfrp). Never really done models before but I decided to buy a packet of IG shock troopers to see if I like painting. My question is how is the guard? I've always like the idea of them story wise but how do they play?

I don't play IG but my understanding is that they are consistently competitive each time a new version comes out. They are a pretty fun army to play against and they have a lot of character.

I don't play IG either. I haven't played against them either come to think of it. I have seen them played two ways. Take for ever, and soooo quick. Either tons and tons of models, infantry, or lots of tanks and planes, maybe 6-10 models. I do know that their terrain is the funnest to make.
