I typically go with 400 grit as my finish sandpaper on plastic models. After primer and paint, I've never seen sanding marks at 28mm scale. If I were painting larger scale display pieces, I might consider an even finer grit.

What sand paper should i use

I generally use a quad-grit emery board (you know, the foam-backed manicurist's type) for final cleanup, so I don't know exactly what grits I'm working with, but 400 sounds reasonable. You don't need an mirror polish, you just need to avoid gashes. If you can't clearly feel a grain on the sanded plastic, you'll never see it under primer and paint, even if you can see it on the bare plastic.
