Daemons 40k. New army

Hi!

I'm currently starting a new army (daemons) and I would appreciate to get some tips and pointers on which units to get.
I've got and painted up 20 plague bearers and 10 demonettes (I intend to get another 10 demonettes).
I will mostly be facing Tau en Necrons and the eventual sm army. All my friends who play are fairly competitive
and I want to stand a decent chance against my friends. I like all of the daemon units model wise but I am a big fan of
Slaanesh and Nurgle so would like to keep that theme if possible but I am however open to suggestions.

Will be playing from 1000 to 2000 pts games.

I'm assuming I would take them as Heavy
Support choices? Wouldn't it be better with a KoS?

Re:Daemons 40k. New army

There are so many different variations of Daemon princes, you'll have to do some research and see first of all if it is the kind of daemons army you want, and second which set up will suite your style of play and meta.

Slaanesh DPs get the lash, which is fantastic with Iron arm.
Nurgle get bale swords ID which is great vs riptides and other MCs. No sweeping in combat sucks though.
Tzeentch Have access to the staff for easy str8 attacks, and their re-roll 1's make them the most durable imo.

Fateweaver is great, regardless of if you want tzeentch DPs or not, though at 1k points he does take a lot away from the rest of your army.

Remember though that tau have the best AA in the game atm, and if you are unlucky on a few rolls then they can take down a flying circus list with little difficulty. Tau aren't a great lineup in general for Daemons, missile spam's biggest weakness is its lack of ap....and 90% of daemons have no armour to speak of. This isn't to say its impossible of course, just that it may be a little difficult for you.

The best troop choices in daemons are daemonettes and pink horrors. Plagues can be good at holding the home objective, but I'm sorry to say that I don't think plagues are effective at all vs tau. The lack of running, and markerlight spam means that they will be picked off pretty easily, whether they are in cover or not.

Daemonettes are pretty nice, though a little more fragile. If there are a lot of riptides against you then they are the daemon of choice, as their rending attacks can bring them down fairly well.

If you are against DPs in your heavy support section, then I'd recommend soul grinders.
Some people like them with the phlegm cannon and mark of nurgle (2+ cover save AV 13 is tough), however markerlights again mess this up.
Personally I'd go for slaanesh grinders with the bale torrent. It gives you a good all round tool box unit, which can help deal with flyers, burn away fire warriors at range with its AP4 flamer and also be a serious threat to multi wound squads and vehicles in cc.
