Mono-Slaanesh Daemons 1000 pts

I've finished putting together a flying circus list, but am now looking to expand my daemons and also make a list that is more fun for friendly games.
Back before my long hiatus from the game, before 4th edition I liked the look of the daemonette models, which are much better than the current ones in my opinion, but never got a chance to make a daemons army. Now I've found a way to get some of the old daemonettes I'm tempted to add some into my army, and also make a stand alone 1k points army.
I've not played a melee focused army in 6th ed, so comments on viability and tactics are welcome.

HQ
Herald of Slaanesh

Troops
15 x Daemonettes
15 x Daemonettes
15 x Daemonettes

Heavy Support
Soul Grinder - Slaanesh Daemon, Baleful Torrent
Soul Grinder - Slaanesh Daemon, Baleful Torrent
Soul Grinder - Slaanesh Daemon, Baleful Torrent

960 pts

The list so far has 40 points to spare. These would most likely go on some upgrades for the herald, or standards/ Leader upgrades for the Daemonettes.
I'm tired of all the tables for greater Daemons, so I decided to keep it cheap and simple and go with a herald, I thinking putting her on a seeker steed to give her a more commanding presence, though I don't know how useful it and its outflank ability will be.

Taking the Rapturous Standard will be worth it. Once your fragile girls get into combat, it will make them much more survivable. (There's a 66% chance that Marines will need a 5+ to hit back!) The +1 to assault results also means that you're a bit less likely to keel over from Instability.

You also might want some upgrades on your Slerald. See the Tactics Article in my sig for my thoughts on that.

And finally, Slaaneshi Grinders aren't exactly useful... They're Str10 AP2 in CC, so Rending is never useful, and if they're running then they're not shooting. I understand that you want a mono-theme...but you might just take the Nurgle/Tzeentch and paint it as Slaanesh.

Re:Mono-Slaanesh Daemons 1000 pts

I've heard and read the complete opposite about slaaneshi grinders actually.

Nurgle grinders are only really effective when sitting back and using their phlegm cannons whilst sitting in cover to get that 2+ cover save. However, despite certainly a being a pain to remove with shooting attacks, their impact on the game for their points cost is not efficient in my mind. They are somewhat akin to a more expensive leman russ. If you are not using them as a phlegm battery then they are worse than all other options, it is the most expensive (tied with slaanesh), and if you have to advance using only your 6 movement (without the option to run) then it is unlikely you will find the cover you need to make good use of shrouded. The inability to sweeping advance is really what puts the final nail in the coffin for me. Their initiative is not great, but the chance to remove a whole unit after a successful cc is something too valuable to give up. Defensive grenades are nice, but do not make up for the weaknesses. With the core of the army being daemonettes, I can't afford to spam BS3 pie plates around when they are closing in on the enemy, so I'm avoiding nurgle.

Tzeentch has nothing bad about it, its a cheap upgrade which might occasionally save you. But most of the time it wont and there may be more useful special rules available.

Whilst you are right about rending not effecting grinders most of the time, having fleet and a +3 run speed will really help the grinders close with the enemy faster, and also make them more reliable when they have to charge. Sure sometimes they will shoot instead of run, but having the option to move on average 13 inches per turn can be very useful. It can also help them close with the enemy if they find themselves out of position/weapon range/LoS. There is no major downside, unlike nurgle, and they also match the idea of a melee pressure list, which combines well with having 45 daemonettes on the table.

I'm leaning towards 3 standards, one for each unit, and an etherblade for the herald to spend those last 10 points.

And you are right, they can be effective, though 12 points for a T3 5++ save is starting to get expensive. I would definitely consider them in lists over 1000 points, (though sometimes I would be tempted to run them as counts as flesh hounds), though at 1k points I'm worried about having enough scoring troops on the board, which is why I went for a large number of daemonettes.

If I want outflank, I could just give the herald a steed and put her in with one of the daemonette blobs. I don't have much experience using outflanking though, would this be a useful thing to do?
Re:Mono-Slaanesh Daemons 1000 pts

The grinders are never just for melee, I find they deliver a very versatile tool box.

In this list I include them for a few reasons,
i) Daemons have no grenades! Whilst this can be mitigated though lowering initiative and reducing enemy weapon skill (I don't like or want a khorne cannon), it still leaves fragile daemonettes charging through cover very vulnerable to being hit first. The Grinder counters this by using his flame template to burn weaker units completely away, and his AV13 to charge more resilient ones without fear of reprisal. (powerfists aside). They are also good at taking overwatch first.

ii) Whether a unit is in cover or not, sometimes it is good to put some firepower on them before they are charged. Whilst BS3 is nothing great, 9 str 7 shots and 3 flame templates from the army per turn should be enough to hurt the essential targets which are either gunning down daemonettes too fast (Think firewarrior blob with ethereal), or will be a pain for the daemonettes to deal with (Greyhunters buffed with prescience sitting in cover). Having at least some firepower in a cc army is important imo, and grinders bring some of the best daemons have.

iii) Whilst you are right, rending daemonettes are a threat to most targets, there are some which give them some trouble. SM Dreadnoughts for example take on average 81 Daemonette attacks to glance to death. Eventually the daemonettes should win, but it could take many turns and is an easy and fairly cheap way to tarpit them. Having a grinder on hand to deal with the heavy armour in cc is a way of solving this.

iv) Skyfire: Ok the BS3 shots are not great at this, but it comes as standard and is one of the few things daemons have for AA outside of Daemon princes.

v) Lastly, they are 3, relatively cheap, fast AV 13 walkers with a 5++ save. Having 3 units of the same kind really helps put pressure on the enemy's heavy weapons. Whilst I agree with you, that the KoS is great value for points, only having one of them is a sure way to have him focus fired down in the first few turns, or have him skulking around in cover all game. Also he cannot be everywhere at once.

If I'm not running a flying circus list then I don't know about daemon princes. Without fateweaver to provide some support, and sinking a lot of points into psychic powers, they are fairly vulnerable. Last game I played I deployed my DP out of los vs tau, only to have him lose 3 wounds to smart missile systems on the first tun. Also DP's, unless they roll iron arm, are risking ID if they have to fight enemy MCs, which are getting more common.

Lash princes are great, don't get me wrong. However, I find running 2 or 3 of them much more efficient than only 1, and I don't want this to be an FMC list.
