1000 Points Tyranids (Bring me to the 21st Century)

Hey all,

Recently got back into 40K after about a 10 year hiatus, bowed out a little after 4th edition was released. I've been playing Imperial Guard and have decided to resurrect my original army, Tyranids. I used to run about 100 Hormagaunts back in the day when they had Fleet and 12' charge and then foot slog tyrants and carnifexes. Was absolutely devastating.

Unfortunately with the way the game has changed, these tactics are no longer viable. I've come up with a 1000 point list I'd like to start with and would appreciate any commentary.

-I Understand that Warriors are fragile, but with a small enough brood I feel I can effectively hide them and get them in combat where they annihilate.

-The Tervigon seems really points heavy...but I want to be able to cast iron arm. Crushing claws are great anti-tank as well as gives him combat defectiveness with T8/9

-The Gargoyles & Trygon can apply speedy pressure as well as do significant damage

Let me know what you think!

HQ

-Tyranid Prime (1)- 90 Points
(1)	Dual Bone Swords- (1) Scything Talon

TROOPS

-Warriors (3)- 165 Points
(3) Lash-Whip/Bone Sword- (3) Toxin Sacs

-Termagants (30)- 150 Points
(30) Fleshborers

-Tervigon (1)- 220 Points
(1) Crushing Claws- (1) Catalyst- (1) Onslaught- (1) Toxin Sacs- (1) Adrenal

FAST ATTACK

-Gargoyles (20)- 160 Points
(20) Fleshborers- (20) Toxin Sacs- (20) Adrenal Glands

HEAVY SUPPORT

-Trygon (1)- 210 Points
(2) Scything Talons- (1) Toxin Sacs

995

1000 Points Tyranids (Bring me to the 21st Century)

First off...thanks for spelling Termagants and Hormagaunts correctly...its seems like 90% of the players out there get one or both wrong.

Secondly, Warriors are a decent choice in the current meta, but you have them very points heavy and very fragile...small units of warriors should be shootier and almost always have a barbed strangler.

The prime is well set up...he should run with the gants unless you make the warrior squad shooty.

1000 Points Tyranids (Bring me to the 21st Century)

I have had great luck running 3-4 Wariors with a barbed strangler, and no other upgrades, as a backfield objective holder. They can hold their own and drop large blasts where needed.

Everything else looks great, double boneswords are hilarious - goodbye multiwound anything. With the points you save on the Warriors, you can give the Tervigon, Prime and Trygon regen for extra intimidation. I find that regen is more psychological than anything, I have had MC'S ignored completely because of it. But on 3 bugs, it's likely you'll get a gew wounds back.
