Do metal models have mould lines?

I bought some Warlord Metal Caesarian Roman casualties. I have just received them and because the light is poor I can't see all that well. I didn't want to paint them and the see the mould lines because it would be hard to rectify them.

Since I haven't bought any metal models before does someone know the answer to my dilemma?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Realised Google is a viable option and the answer is yes. Sorry for wasting your time.

Do metal models have mould lines?

Yes, typically they have mold lines, they are cast the same way as plastic just in a pewter style cast method. So look for mold lines pewter can be a real pain in the ass but I have found precision nail kits have a lot of nifty little gadgets to help combat mold lines plastic and pewter.

Do metal models have mould lines?

Answered your own question, but you still have to deal with them. Even in good light, the mold lines can be hard to pick out, due to the glare. I find that rotating the model under raking light is helpful, as it shifts the reflections and deepens the contrast of the shadows, letting you find mold lines you might have otherwise missed.

Re:Do metal models have mould lines?

Mold lines can be minimal or highly pronounced on metal minis, due to the quality of the mold and other factors. The real concern is "shift," which is when the two halves of the model misalign during the casting process, meaning the two halves of the model don't line up like they should (an annoying problem I get in some things from Forgeworld, too). A small amount of shift is no worse than a bad mold line, but too much shift is basically impossible to fix.

Do metal models have mould lines?

My advice is. Prime, drybrush, clean up, reprime, paint. A quick drybrush will highlight anything you need to remove.
