"Full" Reserve GK Purifiers 1750

What do you think about this list?

Crowe

4 Paladins with Psybolts, Hammer, Halberd, Sword, and Falchions

2x10 Purifiers with MC Staff, Hammer, 4xFalchions, 4xPsycannons (usually combat squads of Staff/2Falchions/2Psycannons and Hammer/2Falchions/2Psycannons)

2x Stormravens with AC and MM

2x Dreads with Dual AC and Psybolts

Depending on the opponent I can just hide Crowe in deployment and hang my Dreads on the back of the Ravens and go Reserve with everything. If there is a threat of being hit by Pods or something that could get to Crowe out of LOS I can put the Pallies down or Dreads and wait for the cavalry. It's a wicked fun list in home games and our home campaign but I fear taking it to a RTT... rightfully so? Thanks for any feedback.

I thought they might be good against the rash of Warp Spawn (Drakes and Daemons) lists out there and others relying on Psykers since I have a Reinforce Aegis and can Mindstrike Missle bothersome heretics, etc. Of course against an army without a long range threat (are there any of those in 6th?) I would deploy more traditionally.

Would Coteaz and a couple of Henchmen be better than the Paladins?

Re:"Full" Reserve GK Purifiers 1750

I think that terminators might be better than paladins in this case because they can score, and quite a few IG barrage weapons are S8+. Regardless, if you keep them on the field turn 1 they can join crowe and be a great source of LOS for barrage weapons with their 2+, or you could just keep crowe in reserve instead. They can hold back field objectives or advance to take midfield objectives.

I think you should change your purifier loadout to: 4x psycannons, 5x halberds, and 1x hammer (replace one of the halberds with staff if you want to). Then combat squad out a "shooty" (all the psycannons) and "assaulty" (with the hammer) squad. Your assault squad will be more efficient at close combat, while your shooting squad can remain stationary for 2x the psycannon shots.

Coteaz and henchmen could be a good investment, with Divination he can substantially buff your troops and potentially get scrier's gaze, which would help you out alot in being able to control your reserves. The main problem is that the best henchmen are usually either 1) mechanized or 2) in reserve. You don't have a ton of points to spare big squads in vehicles, and you probably can't keep them all in reserve due to the 50% rule. However, they would give you cheap scoring units to claim backfield objectives while your opponent is focused on your other more threatening things. You could field 2 squads of 3 acolytes in chimeras+Coteaz for the cost of the paladins.

It's an interesting list, and honestly I think the best thing would be to play it, and see how you do. Your biggest threat will be something shooting down your stormravens with either interceptor or in their shooting phase.

I played Las Vegas Open mission 1 against a Black Legion CSM army and won 2-1. I cleared the enemy Emperors Will objective with Stormraven fire, took and contested the midfield objectives with my Purifiers and defended my home objective with the Dreads and Paladins. Forced a draw on both the Primary and Secondary objectives while winning First Blood, both of us got Slay The Warlord. At the start of the game I was going second and deployed only my 2 Dreads and Crowe all hiding. Sniped a Rhino with a Psyflman dread for the winning first blood and waited for the cavalry. I will continue to try the list and plan on taking out the Paladins and adding in Coteaz with 2x5 Death Cult Assassins instead. Thanks!
