Hey guys,

I've wacked together a 6x4 gaming table and I've base coated it - the spray paint came out a lot lighter than I was hoping for though.

Is there any way to get a nuln oil style wash effect over the whole table without buying 37,000 little tubs?

Can you just water down an acrylic black?

Thanks for tips in advance!

Can either buy a 200ml pot of Vallejo black wash - ~$10 from Combat Company or Defiant Gaming which is good value, or yeah water down a black paint yourself which works fine. Distilled water and flow aid should be all you need - you'd probably want to thin the Vallejo pot down more too, that stuff is pretty strong.

People often use craft acrylics for terrain, so you should be able to use a cheap, high volume tube/pot/whatever they come in if you go that way.

there are wood stains you could use, there is also:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/503117.page

which uses water colors to make a wash... if its just wood and not sand and other material the acrylic black might work, not enough pigments in those cheapy paints to work efficiently.

Good Luck

You can mix your own with painter's medium, water and artist's ink. For the price of five or six GW pots, you can make a pint of wash.
