1850 Footslogging Nids

My normal Nid list is mostly Garg's, Shrike's, Rav's and FMC's (Tyrants and Harpys) with some token Gaunts to objective camp. I fancy trying out something slightly different though so I decided to try out a footslogging Nid list with lots of support.

Comments on if you think it will work or not or what you would change. Not tried the list yet, the only thing I could play at home would be my Dark Eldar but I think I know that would end up badly as my DE list would annihilate this list without me getting close...!

Flyrant - Twin Linked Devourers & Regeneration (spare pts)
3x Venomthropes
3x Zoanthropes
9x Genestealers - 1x Broodlord
9x Genestealers - 1x Broodlord
9x Genestealers - 1x Broodlord
3x Tyranid Warriors - Rending Claws, Scything Talons
3x Carnifex - Twin Linked Devourers

It isnt a particually fast moving army however I am banking on being able to get over the board reasonably quickly with some supporting fire (perhaps drop the warriors and stick the Carnifex's in spore pods?).

I am planning on rolling all the Broodlords, the Zoans and the Tyrant on Biomancy. I am hopeful that I can get as many of the Endurance as possible. The Zoanthropes will take the Primaris if I dont get something useful so they can at least shoot something.

As Nid armor is kind of garbage I am planning on moving up near to the Venomthropes to provide a mobile 5+ cover save and also hopefully as much FNP as I can get to provide basically a 5+, 5+ in the absence of armor saves against AP4 or lower weaponry.

The other thing I have tried to do is take nothing with multiple wounds that can suffer from instant death. The warriors are the exception to this as I wanted a little more mobile Synapse as a backup.

Could this list work or should I go back to the drawing board?

Also, screw Tervigons, no Tervigons please!!!

If your looking at Venoms, then to many genestealers. The stealers need to start infiltrated, or maybe out flanked if you got good board edge cover. The Venoms are much more fun with large shooty broods of guants or big hordes of Hormaguants.

If you want the stealer bomb, drop the warriors and add a prime to make a "deathstar" with the carnies. Give it regen, and dual boneswords or BS/LW to handle challenges. Use any left over points for more stealers. Next I would build the thropes as support thropes one Bio,one TK, one TP. That way they can really back up the stealers and "deathstar". I would also drop the regen on the Tyrant for another stealer or so. With 4 MC, and all that assault, the Terrify power could be very handy.

I think, and if I am wrong some will correct me, that you can toss maledictions and blessings in to Assaults. I think you can actually Sweeping advance any unit that falls back out of combat for any reason., and stealers are very good at catching.

Thanks for that.

Dark Eldar are my other army, nobody else I know plays them so fighting against poison isnt that much of a problem.

I could do this...

2x Prime, LW & BS
3x Dakkafex
3x Venomthropes
3x Zoanthropes
4x Squads of 9x Genestealers and 1x Broodlord

Slightly bigger Deathstar, the Flyrant on his own probably would have been a bad idea I think.

No regen though, however I am pretty sure something will have Endurance so I can always have It Will Not Die anyway so it doesnt matter.

Looks a bit better in this format I think...

That is going to be a very assault heavy list. TP can be nice on the Broodlords since you can use 3 of the 4 powers it can roll. Mental fortitude lets you play fun games with Go to ground and fearless.

Why don't you try some hive guard instead instead of the zoans? Also genestealers are too expensive to be taking that many; Walk them and they'll get shot to bits, venoms or not.
