The Hobi'Tun Chonicles - a 40K campaign

The Hobi’Tun Chronicles
Episode #0: Introduction

The year is 613913.M42. For quite some time, the Imperium has been monitoring the Eastern Fringe planet “Hobi’Tun,” nestled in the central cluster of the Grendl star system. Though the planet itself is only periodically hospitable to human lifeforms, several Imperial Commisars have shown interest in the planet’s mineral rich asteroid belts.

Over the past century, the original inhabitants of Hobi’Tun, (disdainfully described as “fluffy short rounds” by unimpressed Eldar archivists) were all but slaughtered by a handful of disorganized Waaagh!s. Recently, Tau diplomats liberated the planet and expelled several Ork warbands. Shortly after the Tau liberation, Hive Fleet Ianpatasan landed on Hobi’Tun, ravaging the planet. After a prolonged “scorched earth” campaign, punctuated by lightning surgical strikes, the Tau managed to exterminate all known mycetic spores. The Tau victory was short lived, however, as Feral Ork tribes leftover from the previous Waaagh!s easily overran the surviving xenos races. The exact population and racial makeup of Hobi’Tun is uncertain; it is thought by many Imperial psychers that the surviving Orks destroyed themselves, as several civil wars were fought over salvaging rights to the planet’s ruins.

While no consensus has been reached, some psychers believe that some of the technology salvaged by the Ork Meks is not of Tau origin, but instead represent remnants of a ruined Necron Tomb World. All agree that a Necron awakening is highly unlikely, as any remaining Revivification chambers would probably have been devastated after the recent documented conflict.

Next Time… Game #1: Break of the Day
