One of the bigger concerns is one of the models at least has tiny little malifaux feet and I'd rather do something clean with them rather than try to sculpt something to hide the attachment.

I'm also curious how well plastic will "conduct" the light, and hope to paint over some parts to get the effect of glowy bits that have been revealed (for instance, glowing eyes on a mostly opaque model).

Another thing is I'm interested in experimenting with colors, and would probably want to shell out for units that can change color, assuming they aren't hugely expensive.

One thing that's to my advantage is that I tend to do elaborate bases, so would have no trouble masking mechanisms, and if I need to I can sculpt over stuff.
