2000 pnts Tyranids (half of a 4000 point team game)

A friend of mine was preparing for a game where he brings 4000 points of Blood Angels to fight against a team of Necrons and Space Wolves each with 2000 points. Turns out he couldn't quite make it to 4000 so they brought me and my Tyranids on board to be his teammate for a 2000 point split. Yes I know Tyranids can't ally with anyone, we don't care.

Nids and BA's seem to play quite similarly in my opinion, so I think we make a solid team. I wish I was familiar enough with his codex to let you know what he is bringing as well, but here is what I've brought to the table after we discussed tactics.

HQ
Tyranid Prime- Toxin Sacs, Pair of Boneswords, Deathspitter- This guy is my Warlord. The plan right now is to keep him back in our deployment zone with his unit of warriors to hold any of our objectives and deal with any deepstriking opponents, a job that I've found he excels at.

Flyrant- TL Brainleach Worms, Toxin Sacs, Hive Commander- Not my Warlord because he will be a target. A big one. My opponents know how nasty this guy can be, and also how fragile at times. He will draw fire. I want him to be able to fly around and do what he does best and not have to worry about losing a victory point for slay the warlord. Probably will give him Biomancy.

ELITES
3 Hive Guard- I don't play games without them. Very good at what they do.

Doom of Malan'tai- Mycetic Spore- With a table packed with 4000 points worth of models I don't doubt that this guy will earn his points back and then some. He may die before he has a chance to do anything because I'm sure my opponents will have guns with interceptor specifically for this guy, but I'm willing to toss the dice cause he's frickin awesome.

8 Ymgrl Genestealers- I haven't used them often in the past, and they will most likely be used in tandem with the BA unit that can assault the turn they deepstrike. Sternguard maybe? I forget.

TROOPS
5 Tyranid Warriors- Toxin Sacs, Pair of Boneswords, Deathspitters- The Warlord's entourage. I like using Pairs of Boneswords against Necrons because of the various nasty multi-wound models they can bring to the table. Add the Deathspitters and I feel like they are a good jack of all trades unit. Just avoid taking hits from str. 8 weapons.

20 Devilgaunts- Mycetic Spore- While they typically don't kill many things with a 3+ armor save, I just love unloading 60 shots at my opponent. My only worry is that I won't be able to drop them where I'd like to with the table being so packed with models.

Tervigon-2 extra psychic powers, Regeneration, Toxin Sacs- Another major target for my opponents, they know how awesome one of these can be. My main worry is Jaws of the World Wolf popping it in one go. If that doesn't happen he will be a nice big objective holder. Biomancy all the way.

HEAVY
2 Mawlocs- Another unit that I don't normally take because it always scatters away from what I'm trying to hit and then end up getting killed in my opponents turn due to overwhelming fire and assault. I'm counting on the table being packed enough for them to actually kill something. There to be a giant target for my opponents and my teammate really wants me to bring them.

OTHER STUFF
Aegis Defense Line- Comm Link- My teammate asked me to bring this along if I could. We'll both be able to benefit from it and with 2+ rerolls on my reserves my 5 units are guaranteed incoming on turn 2.

So that's it. Very worried that my opponents will have a skyshield landing pad which I can almost guarantee they will. My Mawlocs won't be able to come up through it. There are far too many things to try to prepare for. My teammate and I played against one another using the lists we plan to use against them and I leveled him fairly completely by turn 3. We made a few changes to what he would bring but decided to keep mine as is. Again I wish I could post what he was bringing to get a bigger picture of things. I'll try to get the list from here and post it later. What do you think Dakka? The funny part is, trying to coordinate a time for all of us to play together is so difficult that the new Tyranid book may be out before we even get the chance, which would make this list moot. At least I won the practice game. Hadn't had a win in a while so it felt good.

2000 pnts Tyranids (half of a 4000 point team game)

Everything I am about to say is my opinion and in no way the actual end all be all for tyranids.

thats alot of points for gaunts, especialy since you are throwing them in a spore so the chances of them being out of synapse are high unless you gimp your tyrant by limiting his flight range. Genestealers are just bad periods since the changes to infiltrate (hopefully they get better with the codex) and thats 185 points for 8 units that are probably gona die soon after they come out unless you get them CC fast. Regen on your tervigon is redundant as 90% of the time itll be flooded by squads of gaunts surrounding it.
I like the prime with the warriors, especialy your setup. Swords with deathspitters is brutal all around and is an amazing unit if you can keep it LoS or Cover. Mawlocs are nice though alot less of a scare to your opponant than a trygon.
If this were my list I would drop regen on the Tervigon, lose the genestealers, take the gaunts stock in the spore and take a second group of gaunts in a spore, take a second tervigon the exact same without regen and drop one warrior.
That would put you at 1975 giving you 25 points to spend and would give your doom 2 meat shields of gaunts instead of one. your primes brood wont be any less scary and youll have a second tervi pooping out gaunts and shooting psychics everywhere.
But again this is all just my opinion.

In my experience, Ymgarl Genestealers are pretty awesome. Choose somewhere at the beginning for them to pop out of, and when they do, they can move, run, and assault as normal? I think yes As for the rest, well, I would count on your opponents having some long, long range weapons, so make sure your warlord is behind some cover too. Maybe have him roll on Biomancy to, and hope for Iron Arm and possibly Endurance. Either one would really help him. I do agree with syki about the Tervigon setup, but I would keep the Genestealers. Maybe drop somethings to take a Venomthrope for a 5+ cover? That would certainly help their survivability. Just my opinion, but your list looks great!
