Here's a Covenant Phantom, part of the Mega Blocks Halo range. £90. £90. That's $147.35 to you Americans. Compare that to a Stormraven. £50/$80, full-price direct from GW.

I think the real display of how insane this is is this, though;



Three little guys, two plates, some weapons. £25/$40. That is the same as a 10-man Tactical Squad with all their many bells and whistlles.

Rocket Warthog, not even the right bloody colour (Although I admit that it does otherwise look perfect, and would buy it as a Halo fan if it weren't so damn expensive). £30.


And no, it's not just the Halo brand, or just Mega Bloks. I'm not really complaining, I'm just... incredulous, I guess. I also find it interesting to find something even more extortionate than Games Workshop.

Also, that's exactly the thing. Megabloks is weird, yes, but LEGO is also insanely expensive. I see this at my local supermarket all the time. It's unfortunate, because it is clearly designed to gouge parents of their money; the kids just want the sets, they have no concept of what it costs. My regular opponent's little brother has probably £500 (about $820) in Halo Megabloks alone - and he's not even a fan of the series! What's funny is that this is a great deal more money than said opponent has in Salamanders.

And yeah, I agree. The curved nature of Covenant design doesn't lend itself well to LEGO blocks.

EDIT: It is sort of a complaint, though. I remember the days when you could buy a huge bucket of assorted LEGO for pretty cheap, and that was hours of entertainment for an imaginative child.

That is to say something might be $100 in the US which would be about £60 in the UK. Agreed with the above. I've seen the small 3 man packs for around $10 US here.


I agree, those are totally $10 packs from Wal-mart or Meijers. Same with the ones where you get three Spartans and a turret, or the equivalent for the Covenant. Vehicles like Warthogs are about 25-35 dollars. A bit off topic, but I remember there used to be this really good site for picking up a lot of the old OOP lego sets.
