If you're not familiar with heroquest, I don't know how appealing this will be, but basically the game was an early GW D&D style adventure game, with miniatures, in much the same way space crusade prefigured warhammer 40k. One player acts as a DM and tells a story for up to 4 other people, usually centered around exploring a dungeon filled with orcs, goblins, zombies, or chaos warriors. It was actually a fairly hard game for 10-12 year olds (the target demographic), but it's a lot of fun and pretty rewarding to see your character level up as you play. Plus, all the figures are super-vintage GW style and lots of fun to look at in retrospect.
