I've seen some examples of these models converted, and they looked amazing. I tried to pm the guys who made them and I have not received any responses. I've tried to attach the nova cannon bit with a piece of plasticard tube and it just fell off. I'm not sure what the best way forward for this would be, or what can be done to make it look awesome. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looking at the barrel on the left I would suggest sawing where you have the grooves near the end.

Cement the rod/shim into the barrel with epoxy resin like Araldite, then fit the other end into the grey barrel the same way.
