Seeker Chariot Whips

I just managed to assemble my seeker chariot, there is one thing bugging me and it's the whips. They are impossibly thin and fiddly, they still have small bumps where they were cut off the sprue because I was too scared to cut them off for risk of cutting through the whips themselves. I'm thinking of making metal replacements but I'm not sure how to atatch them to the herald's hands. I don't have a pin vise yet since I haven't really got the chance to assemble any metal models. What do you think I should do? (and Khorne knows how I'm going to transport it)

File them. I find it much easier on thin parts. I found this out after *attempting* to assemble my first five sisters of slaughter.

I'd say it's high time you padded out your tool chest! Needle files will make short work of the nubs left from the sprue gates and pinning the whips is quite likely your best option. Even working primarily with plastic kits, I make frequent use of both my files and pin vice. Add in the occasional metal model and general use tasks (miniature modeling isn't my only hobby, nor are hobby tasks the only time my tools see use) and they're downright invaluable.

Transport is the trickier bit. For really fragile models, even a soft foam cradle may end up snagging and/or torquing thin, protruding bits. For those, rare earth magnets in the base and a metal tray for transport seems to work best. The model is kept stable without anything pressing on the fragile protrusions.

Consider magnets for the arms and a separate container to keep them in during transportation. Glue the whips to the arms as normal, but chop the arms off at the shoulder or elbow and stick magnets there where its thicker. Cover with shoulder pads or elbow guards.

Counter pierce the arms, once you've done playing and put the chariot away, simply takes the arms off and lay them flat on the foam of your back, under the base of the chariot its best.
