Kicks & Giggles Space Marine List (1500)

So a friend and I have a 1500 point game coming up, and I decided to get a bit crazy with the list building, taking units I've never taken before, just to see how it works out. Keep in mind, we play a more casual game. Oh, and I'll be using Iron Hands chapter tactics.

HQ:

Librarian (ML 1) no upgrades

Inquisitor Lord w/Needle Pistol, Liber Heresius, and ML 1 (this is my warlord)

Troops:

Tactical Squad (10 marines) w/Meltagun & Heavy Bolter, Rhino

Tactical Squad (10 marines) w/Plasma gun & Missile Launcher, Rhino

Scout Squad (9 scouts) w/Sniper Rifles

Elites:

Dreadnaughtt w/Multimelta, Heavy Flamer, Lucius Pattern Drop Pod

Heavy Support:

Mortis Pattern Contemptor Dreadnaught w/2x Kheres Pattern Assault Cannons

Centurion Devastator Squad (4 centurions) w/3 grav cannons, 1 TL lascannon (on the sgt), 4 missile launchers, and omniscope

Thunderfire Cannon

Before you say anything, I don't have the most recent Imperial Amour book that has the updated Contemptor dread rules, so I'm using those out of the Aeronautica book, which lists the mortis pattern as a heavy support choice. its my understanding that the new rules move them over to Elites (which would actually be more useful for me).

My plan is to run the Inquisitor and Librarian with the Cents, use the Liber Heresius to scout the cents before the game, so their gravcannons start off in range of everything. That also gives me two force weapons in case the unit gets charged by something nasty, and with Divination, I should be getting a few re-rolls on all those grav cannon shots. I'll likely go with telepathy for my Librarian's power. Naturally, I'll be dropping the Lucius pattern drop pod in so the dreadnought can charge a vehicle (and hopefully score me first blood), and the TFC will just sit in the back and drop 4 barrage blasts per turn on his infantry. The tacticals with Rhinos are going to be supporting the centurion block, and if my opponent takes the Stormlord, those spotlights might prove to be useful. Not sure where I'll put the Mortis dread, probably have him run up a flank and lay down some fire in support of the cents, or if he takes a flyer or two, use him as AA (which this army is woefully lacking).

Colpicklejar wrote:
Is it legal for your allied Inquisitor to be your warlord?

Yes, an Inquisitor in an Inquisition Detachment can be the army's warlord (unless I completely misread that). Its one of the many things that makes the Codex: Inquisition waay different from any other codex.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
This army performed pretty well against a Dark Harvest list which included a necron bomber, nightscythe, ghost ark, 6 wraiths, 2 warrior squads (10 each), a flayed one pack, a monolith, and the named Overlord from IA:12.

The Centurions and Contemptor formed a nice 4-foot bubble in the middle of the table that kept him off balance the entire game. He didn't want to risk the skyfire/interceptor from the Contemptor, so his bomber was forced to fly on and off the board on the outer edges of the table to avoid getting shot at via interceptor. As a result, he couldn't drop that S10 AP2 bomb on the Centurions, and the Centurions' deluge of fire kept the Dark Harvest OL beatstick from getting anywhere close to assault range.
