What color for chipping for this color scheme?

Hey guys. I'm planning to paint some mecha armor soon (Warjacks from Warmachine/Hordes, very similar to Dreadnoughts from 40k). I'm planning to be using a metallic teal look for the base of the model. This will be how the majority of the models color, think plasma gun teal color.

What color do you think I should chip it to make sure it's aesthetically pleasing? I see a lot of chipping tutorials (I'm using the sponge method) that use brown or dark browns but I think that'll make it look ugly... I was thinking maybe a boltgun metal with highlights of silver metallic or something. What are your thoughts and opinions?

Actually, I think a dark chipping would look pretty good, it would be high contrast to the light blue which will make the model pop more. If you don't want to use the brown, then boltgun or a tin bitz type color would be your best bet, something dark and grimey.

I am going to second not using a brown.

Chrome or other highly shiny silver would look really cool if you are going for the "just got scratched" look.

I would stay away from metallics because the model is metallic. Think dark brown highlighted with a light cream color. You almost have to show us the color.
