What army are you thinking about starting and what armies are your friends into?

On the matter of my friends and me, we are a group of 5 people (me included), one of which is actually a Warhammer veteran, he uses the Ultra marines, my friends are actually thinking of going into some diverse things, one of which is a Necron, Blood Angel army, a Tao Angry Marine army (we all agreed to allow the Angry Marines in here, they're too funny for us to pass up), and straight up Space Marine Army, which is what i'm doing as well. So the final army count is (Ultra Marines) (Necron/Blood Angels) (Tao/Angry Marines) and (2 Straight up Space Marines). I'm torn between which chapter to choose at this point (Lamenter's, Carcharodon's(Space Sharks), and Crimson Fists), mostly because i love the flavor and tactics of all three, i'll be taking a good long look at all 3 and their codices. However, i'm confirmed for Imperium Space Marines, because they appeal to me, and they're rather easy for me to understand. I will be open minded to the other races, but for now i think i'll just go slow and steady in this direction. As for an army, i'm still not sure, i know that we all agreed to a 1500 point buy system to start our selves out. However it will take some time for us all to gather our armies (With our veteran being the exception), so i don't have a plan just yet, however i will be making one in the next few days and try to start creating my army after i take a very long time thinking of what i want, I'm going to be pouring a lot of time and possibly money into this so i want to be sure i'm making the right decision. Also as a side note, can you tell me the general opinion, and the legality/tournament legality of hand making your own mins? If not is there a thread already dedicated to this subject, I have been unsuccessful so far, in finding one. I would obviously take an especially large amount of time, care, and research into making them as perfect as possible, due to me wanting to save money, and because i actually enjoy crafting and such. I would just like to know how it's looked upon, and the legality of it. Thank you very much for your help.

That would be a great start to your new army. However the point of me making my own mini's by hand is to make them resemble the Games Workshop mini's as perfectly as my hands can make possible, for both enjoyment, and money saving among my friends, I will be marking the ones i hand make to allow for organization between my own, and the Game's Workshop's mini's. Also i have a quick question, I have decided that i want to begin playing as Carcharodons, but they are not in the 6th edition rules, nor in the 6th edition space marine's codex, the only place i can find them is in the Badab War Part 2, codex, and FORGE WORLD SPACE MARINE CHAPTER TACTICS FOR SIXTH EDITION (and it's only about giving them a special tactic or two.). Me and my friends have sternly decided to stick to 6th edition, to allow for our beginning games to be as simple and smooth as possible, however we are allowing custom Marine Chapters to be implemented, so long as they are based off of a chapter already in the codex. So I wish to ask you all, if i'm missing something in 6th edition about Carcharodons, if there is no real way for me to play them plausibly as a new player, or if i should base them off of an already established chapter, (I already know about the Raven Guard but they only appear in the 6th edition Space Marine Codex, and don't have any stat's so i don't know whether or not they're different from regular Space Marines stat wise.)]]> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/569733/6372567.page http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/569733/6372567.page GMT
Ther Chapter Tactics give them all a Close Combat Weapon Option, which is a big deal, among other things.
