1500pt IG with White Scars allies (Hopefully competitive!)

I've been floundering around with my old 5th edition list of IG for ages and have finally decided to try and make them a bit better for 6th Edition while not having to spend a great deal of money (I'll mainly only be spending on the allied detachment, a couple of individual models and heavy weapons).

This is what I've put together at the moment:

HQ:
Primaris Psyker – 70pts

Troops:
Infantry Platoon: 260pts

Platoon CS – 55pts (Power Fist, Autocannon)
Squad 1 – 65pts (Flamer, Autocannon)
Squad 2 – 65pts (Flamer, Autocannon)
Heavy Weapons Squad – 75pts (3x Autocannon)

Veterans – 155pts (3 Meltagun, Power Fist, Autocannon, Chimera)

Fast Attack:
Vendetta – 130pts

Scout Sentinel Squadron – 80pts (2 Sentinels, 2 Autocannons)

Heavy Support:
LRMBT - 150pts

LRMBT – 150pts

Manticore – 160pts

Allied Detachment:
(White Scars)

HQ:
Captain – 115pts (Bike, Meltabombs)

Troops:
Bike Squad - 203pts (8 Men, 2 Grav Guns, Meltabombs)

C & C would be much appreciated!

Maybe take out the power fists, and use a CCS instead of primaries so you can give orders to your platoon? For the bike squad maybe give the sergeant a Combi grav too. If you're taking the bikes for the grav weapons then the extra dudes are unnecessary. Also, replace the scout sentinels with an ADL.

1500pt IG with White Scars allies (Hopefully competitive!)

The fists are a hangover from last edition I suppose, when you would have them hidden in blobs! The Primaris was just to give me access to some psychic powers and just generally be a change of pace to the CCS I normally use, but since he'd have to be on the frontline to be effective, the merits of a CCS that won't concede the warlord points and may be more generally useful are becoming more obvious. Plus if I do replace the sentinels with an ADL (which is cheaper ) the CCS has something to do with its high BS!

My thinking with the bike squad was more that they could provide quite a heavy close combat punch, using White Scars chapter tactics, which would mean they'd be able to pepper a squad with bolter fire then obliterate it with 9 strength 5 hammer of wrath attacks (which combined with the grav guns could also make short work of tanks). I gave them the grav weapons to test out their effectiveness, if they were inadvisable I'd either give them meltas for assaulting or just leave them without special weapons.

So... something more like this?

HQ:
CCS – 50pts

Troops:
Infantry Platoon: 245pts

Platoon CS – 40pts (Autocannon)
Squad 1 – 65pts (Flamer, Autocannon)
Squad 2 – 65pts (Flamer, Autocannon)
Heavy Weapons Squad – 75pts (3x Autocannon)

Veterans – 165pts (3 Meltagun, Autocannon, Chimera)

Fast Attack:
Vendetta – 130pts

Heavy Support:
LRMBT - 150pts

LRMBT – 150pts

Manticore – 160pts

+ADL with quad gun - 100pts

Allied Detachment:
(White Scars)

HQ:
Captain – 115pts (Bike, Meltabombs)

Troops:
Bike Squad - 203pts (8 Men, 2 Grav Guns, Meltabombs)

That puts me at 1468 with 32 to spare... what would they be best used for, a combi-grav then flamers and an autocannon for the CCS?

Re:1500pt IG with White Scars allies (Hopefully competitive!)

I would ditch the chimera for the melts vets and put them in the vendetta, unless you want to give the platoon command framers and put them in the vendetta, which also works. Yeah Combi grav is a good idea, and if you want better close combat ability with your allies, kit the captain out more, or even use a chapter master maybe.

Nobodies commented on your white scars yet. Sorry to say, they don't really bring much to the list. I'd find the points for this:

Chapter master artificer armour bike shield eternal thunder hammer

2 x 5 bike units 2 grav guns combi grav

This would give you the best you can really do with a ws detachment. And it wouldn't really cost you that much more. If you're gonna bring em you may aswell make it worth the investment.

540 total

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I know what you mean tank boy. That's why I have a hard time seeing the worth in allies under 1750. If you don't give your allies a decent setup they're not really worth taking as it detracts from your primary. If you can't make your primary work first and foremost you really need to ask yourself if it's worth tacking on sub-optimal allies choices. If you're only doing it for fluff though, it matters less.
