Smooth-On Moldmaking kit questions

Hey everyone, I was considering buying this kit to make miniatures for use in a game that I'm working on and I had some questions for anyone who had used it. I've been watching guides and reading reviews on it, but I've never seen this anywhere: what do I have to use in the mold, and can I use sculpey for my master?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-B

Smooth-On Moldmaking kit questions

I use Mold Max30 all the time. Make sure you have a good scale, it has a 10:1 ratio by weight and needs to be mixed very accurately. I have used the 1:1 ratio silicon but found it tears easily. The Mold Max makes great molds and reproduces with great accuracy. It's not cheap, but will do the job.

Smooth-On Moldmaking kit questions

The master can be made of anything, as long is it isnt silicon based. Silicon only likes to stick to silicon. Sculpty is a fine material. I run molds made from sculpty and smooth cast masters all the time.

The starter kit is a fine way to start. Just be sure to use a mold release on both the master and mold when you run it.

Yes you can use a wire frame for scultpy, but be careful to not over bake it or it will become very brittle. Also Happy New Year
