Red Scorpions and seige vanguard assault combinations.

Tactical squad
Apothecary,
Seige mantlets.
Gives a 3+ rerollable save (against ranged attacks) followed by a 5+ fnp against small arms fire. That means each marine is almost as good as corbulo at tanking small arms (corbulo has a 17/18 chance of a save, these marines have a 25/27 chance). Throw in plasma guns/combis/cannons and a libby with psychic shriek and it'll also have a decent damage output. Take 3 squads set up like this (if also taking severin thats all of you hq choices) and you have a very good chance of one of the libbys getting telekine dome and giving every unit with 12" a 5++ invuln.

Severin Loth
Apothecary assault centurion,
5 assault centurions
All with hurricane bolters.
Give Severin gate of infinity. Make the vanguard seige objective something with a good coversave in the opponents objective area. Assault Centrions are TROOPS so score on it. Deepstrike them next to the objective, proceed to flame/hurricane, next turn assault.
After capturing the objective you now have Severin with 6 t5 2w 2+ save 5+fnp with a 4+ cover models. They put out 36 tl bolter shots a turn (plus severins powers) and overwatch of 36 tl bolter shots and on average 12 flamer hits which re-roll to wound.

Allied in Dark Angel/Mantis Warrior librarian with divination and combi-grav
Apothecary centurion
2 assault centurions
All with grav and apothecary with omniscope
2 squads of these to walk with the 3 mantlet squads. Much cheaper than the usual grav cent death star. Have a reasonable chance of getting the 4++ power on one of the squads. If not, still got 5+fnp and can hopefully share in the telekine dome fun.

So I was thinking of starting a 'counts as' red scorpions vanguard seige assault with mantis warrior allies, decendent chapter of the Thousands Sons. A 3k army with the 6units and 6 psykers above forming the backbone. Another fluffy option to go with it would be 2 units of 'counts as' legion of the damned to go in the mantis warrior elites slots. Their deepstrike, 3+ invuln and ignores cover are just a result of their psychic powers instead. Sound fluffy? Obviously they keep their origins a secret...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ignore mentions of telekine dome... I was looking at the wrong psychic table...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Rather than dome I would hope for puppet master.

Red Scorpions and seige vanguard assault combinations.

Ah bugger. Unfortunately the pdf viewer on my phone keeps freezing so I was having to go off memory.
Still those Tac squads are very tough to kill unless they take up the attention of the opponents heavy weapons, which they won't with all the cents around. So the only thing I'll be missing is 5+ fnp on the cents? Still worth the chapter tactics tbf, especially with unlocking Loth!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Do you like the fluff angle?
