Thinking it could be an interesting basecoat for either the Stone Hearts or Stone Gauntlet Space Marine Chapters.
Just unsure if it will be too thick, and will sacrifice too much detail for a nice stone like effect.
I think it could look especially good applied to SM Tanks.

(I have done a good bit of searching & surfing, but can't find a thread that relates to this or even an example of a colour scheme for either chapter)

Can anyone help me out please or will I just have to buy to try?

try going to one of the home improvement stores, and ask them if they have any samples of it, so you can see the texture yourself.

On most of my buildings I leave it the "straight out of the can" colour, but sometimes I paint over it. The texture works well on buildings but it would be too rough for small figures, I think. (There are several different colour mixtures, if you want to use it for scenery items.)

Cheap and easy to build. Neat looking stuff, I may try this for one of my tatoonie buildings.

However, I just have to say....using the aluminum foil for masking - totally freaking brilliant.
I had been using silly putty or clay for smaller features - but this, this sir is awesome.
