There is no direct source how Latin words were originally pronounced, only poems and languages derived from Latin (esp. Italian and Church Latin) give a clue. Even in the Roman Empire, there would have certainly been different pronounciations.<br /> 4.) American pronounciation tends to add or change vocals (in this case change the first <i>O</i> to something different) and use a guttural <i>R</i> not used in the languages closest to Latin. In Italian, French or German we would just say, pronounce it as it is written.<br /> 5.) In the end use any pronounciation that people will understand.]]></description>
