Painting Blood (Old & New)

So i have recently though up this question upon Orcs and their weapons:
How would you go about painting a weapon that has seen many battles?

It would have 5-months old Blood on it, 2 days old Blood and fresh Blood. I have easily painted Fresh blood and splatter (used to be red paint with 'Ardcoat, now Blood for the blood God). That's easy. Has anyone painted old/coagulated blood, that might be old of a few days or even Years?

I have googled to come up with nothing, so personal examples/direct links would be appreciated. Anything to do with old Blood basically =)

Painting Blood (Old & New)

Try searching for dried blood instead of old blood.
Basically though blood browns as it ages. First it loses its sheen, then darkens from crimson through to almost terracotta.

Unfortunately I can't give you any paint formula as I do most of my painting and mixing by eye without writing down exactly what I do (my Art teacher hated me cos I could never show my process :p).

*edit for links*

https://www.google.co.uk/search?num=30&newwindow=1&safe=off&hl=en&biw=1680&bih=923&site=imghp&q=painting+dried+blood&oq=painting+dried+blood&gs_l=serp.3..0i7i30l2j0i8i13i30l2.2982.4095.0.4288.9.9.0.0.0.2.231.1034.2j5j1.8.0....0...1c.1.32.serp..6.3.280._CB6EjsaMVE
http://forums.tauonline.org/painting/41570-dried-blood-how.html
