[1850] Tyranids List

Long Time Lurker and Poster, but forgot my username/password all together so I'm starting anew!
You guys must be sick of all the Tyranid threads surfacing here recently.
Well, opinions of the new Codex aside, I've concluded that the community will evolve this book into something it's clearly not presently.

With that said,

1850 - Tyranids

HQ:

Hive Tyrant - Wings/2xTwin Linked Devourers/Hive Commander - 250
Hive Tyrant - Wings/2xTwin Linked Devourers/Hive Commander - 250

Well, this is what I feel will be the standard HQ's for Tyranids with the minor tweak with Dual Hive Commander. The sole purpose is to consume somewhat unreliably the table, and limit my opponents options moving in successive turns. That said, it relies on Outflanking troops (With the new rules regarding spawning with Tervigons) flanking together and on the same edge, else adjustments (synapse control) will have to be made.

Troops:

30 Termagants
1 Tervigon
30 Termagants - 20 armed with Devourers
*This unit will be outflanking
1 Tervigon
*This unit will be outflanking

Nothing really surprising here, honestly. Just 40 more gants than I'm used to fielding in the prior edition. The gimmick is dual outflanking to control movements and positions, and being controlled through synapse -- hopefully.

Elites

3 Zoanthropes

The thoughts here are also pretty simple; I personally feel like these guys got a substantial boost and role change in this edition. I used to like Podding them to replicate Doom's ability, but even that was unreliable and caused too many issues now that I come to think of it. First and foremost, these will be my backfield synapse. They will also operate subtly as buffers to augment my sqds with hopefully Catalyst or something similar. IF I have read the rules correctly, the main reason why I'm choosing them is because not only can they augment, but on the same turn, they can shoot their Blast/Lance through the funneling mechanic. In other words, 1 Zoanthrope casts Warp Lance or Blast -- it becomes assault 3. He uses his warp charges for the turn. The other two cast buffs, since they haven't used their charges yet. If I am wrong, or clearly an idiot -- PLEASE tell me so.

Heavy Support

Trygon Prime with Poison Template Miasma something

Heavy Support is where it's at in this codex, but I just wanted to try something unusually usual with this Auto-Include unit of the old codex. Lots of firepower the turn it arrives, and doesn't rely as heavily on luck and chance -- as the Mawloc does. I love most all HS choices, but just trying something different here.

Here's where I'm stuck. I Currently have 240 Points left.
My initial mentality is more Heavies, more threats, more monsters.
What do I lack currently? Speed, Durability, High Strength

So, with that in mind:
1st Choice for the remainder of 240 points:
20 Gargoyles
20 Gargoyles

2nd Choice with the remainder of 240 points:
21 Hormagants
Harpy

3rd Choice with the remainder of 240 points:
2 Venomthropes
3 Hive Guard (with taking out a couple extra devourers from the outflanking squad)

Thoughts, C&C Welcome.

TAC list. Objective Capturing/Synapse Controling/Threat Saturation.

Thanks, all!

Hate to break it to you, but your reading Brood of Psychers wrong. The BROOD generates the warp points just like a GK squad. So you can either fire the Warp Blast/Lance for 2 Warp points or you use a single buff. I would like to see a FAQ letting them use the second Warp point for a second buff, but doubt that will happen.

true about the psychic brood, but since you arent using other elite slots then seperate them into 3 groups of 1 and then cast the 3 spell on 3 different targets.
