Typhus in 1000 points. :0

Hey,

So for a local tournament I am going to use Typhus from CSM in 1000 points. With Some Plague Zombies.

Roughly, at the moment, i have

Typhus.

20 Plague Zombies
10 Plague Zombies
10 Plague Zombies.

Thats about 420 points.

And was thinking along the lines of Heldrake, Forgefiend, Forgefiend, 10 more Cultists. or 5 more in each squad.

I would like to win, but not essential really, just want a semi fluffy and fun list.

Any one got any suggestions. It has been put to me to drop a Forgefiend, get 2 Oblits with MoN and another 10 Cultists. Which works out to be about the same points.

Others have said another Heldrake, but i think that would be boring.

Some have said drop both FF's and get some PM in some Rhino's in there. And although that would be awesome, i am not convinced. Maybe one FF and one squad of PM?

Others have said Defiler, but I dont really have the time to Nurgle one up.

Any other suggestions on how to make this workable while still being fun and semi fluffy? Cheers gang.

Neither Forgefiends nor Defilers are particularly point effecient.

On defilers, you're paying for 4 HP, high armor, all sorts of special rules, and weapons ranging from melee weapons to flamers to mid range guns to the 72" range battle cannon. The main gun being ordinance, you're snap firing everything else....what a waste. I think making the argument that the defiler is point efficient at all is impossible because the thing is equipped to do everything but can only do one thing at a time, and to switch roles it must take a turn or two of movement usually to get into firing range (unlike obliterators or mutilators).

The forgefield, likewise, is very questionable. With ectoplasmic cannons, you're paying 200 points for something that is AV12 and that will be firing at 24", in range of all of your opponents anti-tank. Ew. Hades autocannons? Well those are a bit better because they're longer range AND cheaper. Thats nice! But when you compare that to a havoc squad with 4 autocannons...they will cause 1/6 more wounds, and at only 115 points compared to the FF's 175.

So thats why people say to drop the Forgefiends and Defilers.

I'd go two Obliterators for Typhus. Why? Cause its badass to have him DS in the shape of Nurgles mark. Im going to start fielding Termicide units for the same reason. Gotta love all the little details that fit Nurgles grand scheme. Isn't it convenient that we can get 35 zombies also? (7x5).

But I would also try for Plague Marines obviously. Zombies don't really do anything by themselves.
