Vostroyan Tank Colours!

Hi All Andy here again!
I'm am starting my IG Vos army with some tanks whilst I sort out what I am going to do with the
basic infantry. Whilst in my local GW store, I was looking at the IG codex and the chaps in GW
pointed me towards karak stone base and a bleached bone drybrushing. Now that I have got
an IG codex off eBay, I see that the stone base colour has more to it, I think I can make out some
colder greys in there, but not just one karak stone colour!
My question is how to achieve that base coat?! Apart from getting the karak stone in GW,
I use Vallejo and if you can suggest their colours that would be great, but if not
GW paint colours are ok but the old names!!!!
Cheers
Andy

Vostroyan Tank Colours!

Hey ya Andy, allow me to help you out here.

First, I've tried MULTIPLE times to recreate the color on the GW Vostroyan tanks. I mean at least a half dozen, with zero success.

Ultimately, I opted to just say 'feth it' and go with Karak Stone as was recommended to you by the GW staffers. The old name for Karak Stone is Kommando Khaki so you know, also.

I have no idea what this would transfer to in Vallejo pants, but the Karak Stone (Kommando Khaki) covers very well.

I went the opposite direction for 'highlighting', instead opting to use the old Flesh Wash color to darken the recesses and do rust/weathering in those areas and around the rivets on the vehicels. I then went in and hit the entire tank with a good coat of Gryphon Sepia wash.

Here's an example of how it turned out:

A light drybrushing of Bleached bone would give you a brighter overall appearance, but I wanted a more 'dingy' look to my vehicles, like they'd been in the field a long while.

There are more examples of how I painted my Vostroyan tanks in my gallery if you'd like and if you have any questions on the techique I used, please feel free to PM me and I'll go into more detail.

Best of luck, in the mean time. Glad to see another Vostroyan player around. There are too few of us out there in my opinion.

See ya soon, and take it easy for now.

-Red__Thirst-
