First Model ever WIP (updated Jan. 24, 2014)

So I have finally begun painting my first model. Really excited.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE (Jan. 24, 2013)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried washing the original model I painted but it turned out terribly. I have now painted another model, and instead of washing right away, I first laid the basecoats of all the main colours. I'm very happy with how the Guardian looks now (especially considering it is only the second model I've ever painted )

See below. Do you guys have any advice on what I should do next?

To properly view the picture, after you click on it, press the zoom button on the Photobucket website, then once the full-sized picture appears, right click on it and press VIEW IMAGE. That way the picture is not zoomed in so far and you can clearly see the whole picture.

looking quite good so far. I'd recommend applying a green wash and maybe drybrushing afterwards. If you feel confident enough you could highlight after the wash instead.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I am reading about different highlighting techniques at the moment. I'm using this first box Eldar Guardians to try out the various painting techniques I'm reading about in order to find something that work well for me.

Just a quick FYI you can use the spray primers outside in winter just do it in your garage and bring them in quickly and works fine.
It was - 38c here today and I primed some kroot that way today haha.
I would recommend that because it will make the model alot more smooth vs brush painting the primer on.

Overall it looks good and I think a wash of beil tan shade. Then highlight with warpatone glow or moot green depending on how bright you want.
Looks good tho keep it up!

However, I'm worried about the fumes that the model will give off inside my house. What do you think?

The smell will longer in the house longer than that but it's not usually overpowering and won't spread too far.

Just make sure when priming in the cold that the spray can is at room temperature and so are the models. Run out, prime the models then bring them back in.

Oh and make sure to have shaken the can a lot prior to spraying.

Love the colour you chose for the guardians.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Side note, it's hilarious that all of us talking about spraying in cold weather are Canadians, lol.
