help! how does gw paint their striking scorpions

hi guys, ive been struggling for months using various combinations of goblin green, snot green, caliban, scorpion green, bleached bone, and skull white but to not avail.
i've been trying to replicate how gw paints their striking scorpions, shown here:

http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1251689_99110104095_Strikingscorpmain_873x627.jpg

it's fairly clear to me that they must use some sort of succession of extremely thin layers. it sorta looks like goblin green, but upon experimenting, its def a completely different color they use.
i've tried watering down my paints, and they get grainy with poor coverage

is there like a special medium or something?

surely someone out there must know how to do a good job on striking scorpions? i just cant get the smooth layers like the ones show

I have used Lamium medium as my thinning agent, rather that water that makes a lot of difference. Sorry, I can't help with the specific colours used but, as I have had that sort of advice from GW, try asking at uk.custserv@gwplc.com.

Have you seen
where he seems to get fairly close?

Stew

If I were doing them, I'd start with a white undercoat (otherwise it'll take ages to get a vibrant green). Paint with snot green, do multiple thin layers until you get a nice solid colour. Use a green ink/wash. Then an edge highlight with snot green + a bit of yellow, maybe in 2 stages. You could probably do something like snot green + scorpion green for the first highlight and pure scorpion for the 2nd highlight just in the most extreme edges, though that might be a bit too bright.

The GW ones don't actually look like they've done tons of layers, they look like they done green with a couple of edge highlights and a very carefully done green wash, maybe even an oil wash.
