How much would you pay for this lovingly converted model? (Wraithlord / Avatar)

I hope that this is the appropriate forum for this...

I am an incurable conversion junkie, and also a very flighty individual who has a hard time committing to a single army permanently. This leads me to create some really complex, painstakingly executed conversions that end up often collecting dust.

This seems like a shame, so I've thought lately that it might be worth it to start selling y creations. I get the enjoyment of making them, and even if they aren't for my current armies, then I can sell them to get more stuff I do want, and no poor conversions collecting dust.

Of course, these tend to take a good bit of time, and if I do sell them, I'd like to feel like I'm getting a decent return on my time investment. That said, I'd like feedback on what people think my work might fetch, in terms of price, and also what the best way to "market" my stuff might be. Ebay? Sites like Dakka and Bartertown?

Here's one creation that I'm pretty proud of, my Wraithlord / Avatar mash-up, which I call THE WRAITH-VATAR:

The base, with a custom cast Eldar Titan head and oodles of neat skulls and stuff:

The model is unassembled to facilitate painting:

It requires a little bit of touch up, but is basically ready to go. Let me know what y'all think, and thanks!

-C6

How much would you pay for this lovingly converted model? (Wraithlord / Avatar)

It's very nice but personaly I'd not buy it for more than £40.
I could build my own for the cost of the two kits less a readily available 20% discount and give the model the perfect loadout or magnets. I'd also be checking eBay for a broken avatar with no legs and be offsetting my costs selling any extra bits from both kits so could possibly go cheaper than that.

So, yeah that's how my maths would work...
Cost of major kits used less 20% would be my absolute max price.
.

I'm not being snarky, I'm just trying to suss out various opinions.

-C6

How much would you pay for this lovingly converted model? (Wraithlord / Avatar)

To me, yup, it's worth nothing moneywise although I find it inspiring and certainly appreciate the skill that has gone into it.

Yeah, my post must have come across as a little negative but I'm very much a hobbyist and would love the challenge of putting something like that together.
I'd certainly pay for someone to do a very menial and boring repetitive conversion ie I want 50 left handed guardsmen with goggles and turbans. But I'd probably make the first sample.
For interesting centerpiece models I need a bit of ownership.

In terms of marketing your stuff I'm not sure what the best way to go is? As soon as you 'publish' a new conversion you'll get hobbyists like me thinking, 'oh, that's cool, I'll need x y z and green stuff. It'll only take a day and X £ to rip that off'.

You'll also get some people thinking, 'i haven't got the time or skill to do that due to my fantastic well payed job. Where's my checkbook.'

Those are the guys you want to reach out to.

I'm with Alex. It's an awesome conversion, and obviously a lot of work has gone into it. But when I put a model down on the table the paint job and conversion has to be my own.

However, there definitely are people who get stuff commission painted and converted. In your case I would put a reserve on the ebay listing, but bear in mind that people go on there specifically to get cheap stuff, so don't put it too high.

Like you said, I think the Swap Shop and Bartertown are your best bets, as you're more likely to get a straight swap for something you want to work on now.

Into the realm of ifs I go. If I was buying this piece I would be chopping off the "ears" and smoothing down where I cut them away at. I enjoy the over-all pose of it but the intense detail to the additions on the arms and sword just leave a feeling of blandness in my mouth. I do truly enjoy how it came together but with all of that smooth bland armor bits I am just left at looking at a half completed model in my mind. I do live the base though and look forward to that but the over done avatar bits just feel out of place on the elegant and modern look of the wraith.
