I add water to the washes to thin them down as needed. But if you mean to get rid of the wash thats already on there, nope your screwed. btw if you add a wash and it looks to thick dry your brush touch the wash asap and it disappears . Just don't wait more then a couple seconds or you get a water stain mark.

I personally do 2 or 3 coats of wash but mine is very watery. Just find what works best for you.

When it drys the colour and shine will change but if it looks dark or there is dark blobs they will stay that way.

Wash too thick

I usually add a few drops of Future to all my purchased washes. It thins them down a bit and helps the wash flow.

If you're afraid of the wash messing up the basecoat, you could always do what is called a pin-wash.
Before you are ready to apply the wash, apply a gloss coat to the model and let it dry. Then using a 0 or 1 brush, apply the wash in the the cracks and details that to receive the wash. any excess that doesn't run off the high surface is quickly dabbed up by a dry brush or cloth, leaving the basecoat un-stained.
