The last time I played was toward the end of 4th edition, and out of the dozen or so games i got to play i only won 1 (horrible, I know! LOL). Anyways, long story short, I'm returning with my Imperial Guard and my first couple of games are this coming week. I'll be playing one Vs. Tau and another vs. SM's. It won't be super-competitive, just playin' some pick-up games with a couple of friends, getting me back into playing. However, I don't want to have an absolutely terrible list for the games. Below is a list I put together based on what models I have, and I'm open to any and all advice/comments/criticism.

I intend to expand this list into an 1850 Pt. list, so I'm looking to optimize what i have, if possible, and I'm looking for advise as to what I should be looking to add/do while I work my way up to 1850 Pt. games. My primary opponents play Tau (plays without kroot. Plays suit-heavy, those suits give me SO much trouble!!) , SM's, and Tyranids, if that helps in the optimization of the list.

1) At least one Vendetta
2) Manticore. Best artillery in 6ed
3) Leman Russ Executioner
4) If using platoon must have comissar with axe, krak grenades and maybe ally mage for buff
Put HWT into squads. Otherwise, they will die VERY fast
5) Aegis+Quad Gun.
