Reviving Blood angels. DoA hybrid 2000

Hey guys! Looking for a Hybrid jump/ mech army. its been awhile sense i have played. Last played was before 6th ed came out. And i had a DoA BA Army. With a bunch of changs that i have seen in 6th ed. it looks viable to do a hybrid army now. My thinking is the bulk of my army will be jumps with mech support more or less.

HQ- Libby, jp-125
Honour guard, jp, 2x melta 1xpf-210

Elites-2x sang priest with jp-150

Troops-
10x ASM,2x melta,1xpf-235
10x ASM,2x melta,1xpf-235
10x ASM,2x flamers,1xpf-225

Fast Attack-
10x vet van, jp, 2x pf 3x melta bombs-380
2x baal pred, AC, heavy bolter sides-290

Heavy support:
5x Dev squad, 4x ML-130

That leaves me at 1980, 20 points to spare, Any tips would be awesome.

Here are my tips... with six ed. BA just aren't competitive. sorry.
Here goes nothin:

JP marines in my experience just aren't the best. it is just sad the way they fly. If you are going to mass them make sure you make sure each squad has a sanguinary priest. to get this ditch the Dev squad/ the vets.

Vets are good, put they are kindof like a one-hit wonder. drop down, do some crap, blow up something, DIE.

Devs just aren't for BA. take something else that will kill crap like maybe... a fragnought? a furioso w/ frag cannon w/ heavy flamer in pod will drop down and do lots of crap. it get really close/ does wipe out a full tac squad. it's fun.

I think that baal preds should always have flamestorm... you already have a bunch of tank killing in your jump squads and honor guard, take a auto-hitting 7 shot strength six thing instead! you should be able to get in range since you can scout 12" then move 12".

Again, personally BA's best spot in my opinion is inside tanks, but it might work for you.

Thanks for the input, honestly, i cant really star over as all my models are glued with jump packs and such.I dont really want to repaint ;(, I had huge success with jump army in 5th ed. with a few minor balance issues.

I do have 2 furioso's, I have a storm chicken as well. I dont have razor backs or Termies. This makes me sad that they arent good at DoA anymore. I thought with a hybrid with some mech it would be decent. I guess i can use said money on upgrading to finally go into making my CSM plague marine army.

I actually disagree. I think your current models can actually be very competitive with a few changes. First of all ditch the vanguards. They are definitely not worth it for 380 points, they will get shot up extremely quickly. While you're at it ditch the honor guard as well, you now have 550 (530+20 leftover originally) points to work with.

Here's how I would fill those 550 points:

9x stern guard 2x plasma 4x combi-plasma
1x Brother Corbulo
1x drop pod with locator beacon
This all for 390. This is only 10 points more than you vanguard squad and so much better. It is guaranteed to come in first turn so drop it near your opponents biggest threat (besides vehicles) and you will kill it. Especially good vs marines because of vengeance rounds and against termies if you use the combi-plasmas. Also put brother Corbulo in front and he will make your squad almost invincible by taking all of their shots. Take a look at this article for math on what it takes to bring him down: http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/space-marines/223227-brother-corbulo-6th-edition-tank.html. (If the link doesn't work just google "brother Corbulo tank" and click on the first thing that comes up. It's a well-written librarian-online forum.) Plus your locator beacon will prevent deep strike mishaps for your three assault squads.

Now with your remaining 160 points:
3x bikes 2x melta guns
1x attack bike with multi melta
Total=160
This bike squad will be one of the best tank-hunting units possible. With toughness 5 and jink they will be relatively hard to take down. With these bikes in play I might even replace the meltas on one of your assault squads with another set of flamers. If you did this you'd have enough points to replace two of the missile launchers on your devastators with one lascannon (much more effective against heavy armor) and one heavy bolter, which will help the Devastators defend your home objective against attacking infantry.

Besides those changes, I really like your list and still believe that descent of angels is awesome. Also I'd keep the auto cannon heavy bolter predator, you can keep it farther away and out of melta range of your opponent, also it's easier to make sure your front armor is facing attacks if you stay farther away. Hope at least some of this advice helps!

Re:Reviving Blood angels. DoA hybrid 2000

I'm of the opinion that a Storm Raven, possibly two or an ADL+quad gun is necessary for Blood Angels to even approach competitive because of how prominent Flyers have become in the new meta. Being able to just throw tons of dice only works with Orks because they only have BS2 anyway. With Space Marines, you pay out the nose for that BS4 and 3+ save so you need to be able to use them. That means, when a hell turkey or vendetta comes on, something in your army has to have skyfire or you're wasting both of those attributes. That's why I'm an advocate of the Storm raven in any list that can fit one. Two if possible. Three is overkill and limits your other heavy support choices, but two is good enough for an army that hurts for anti aircraft fire. Assault cannons and Lascannons are both good but always take the Multi melta nose gun and be sure to use those missiles and you're techie pilot will be an ace in no time. Hurricane bolters are a good option (due to PotMS) but an option nonetheless and don't need to be taken as they won't assist at all with the Raven's primary objective.

I have some other opinions about BA competitiveness but they're much more debatable. I dislike the interactions of Razorbacks. Even fast, cheap ones with lascannons and plasma guns. They just die so fast that I never even get to shoot the guns. Even getting to move them isn't always a sure bet. Jumpers and DoA I've had more luck with as melta guns are still pretty awesome and Sanguinary Priests and our Librarians still aren't bad. Also doesn't give up first blood immediately and has a good chance to get linebreaker since you don't lose your mobility immediately.

But my favorite way to run Blood Angels so far is with Land Raiders. Lots of Land Raiders. Sure it's a "gimmick" and gets eaten by deepstriking melta squads but for the majority of lists out there, disposing of three AV14 boxes, the terminators that come out of them, the big, fast AV13 guns (Baal and classic predators) supporting them and the Storm Raven that shows up a little bit later to wreak more havoc is just too much.

If you just want little changes (which I support as I still think Jumpers aren't too awful) drop all of your powerfists as they won't help much in this edition, take a small unit of VV with melta bombs to hunt an MC, leave the Honor Guard and Devestators at home and bring that Storm Raven you talked about. Then maybe buy some more jumpers if you have the points left over.

Oh and on the subject of Bikes: SM Bikes are cool/awesome/fun/great/balanced/OP/whatever but Blood Angels are pretty much the worst codex to take Bikes in. Get a can of black or white spray paint (either or both works) and voila your bikes magically becomes thousands of times better. Getting Sanguinary priests is not worth the cost of them being more expensive, not scoring, not having hit and run, more expensive bike librarian/captain/character, not having access to grav guns/RWGLs all sorts of other junk that just mean the other codices do bikes better. It's as simple as that.
