tyranids 2k first attempt

im brand new to nids and i hear how bad it is all over the interwebs. this is my take on what i saw in the dex, this is my first attempt at nids im going for a competitive list here and i think ive achieved that, 10 str 10 shots a turn at up to 5 targets! the tyrants are scary, and harpy bombs are nice for clearing cover, was considering moving around the rupture cannons for the torrent and some electroshock grubs but i think im ok on troop killing. didnt bring a venomthrope cause i dont see it keeping up with the guants and im not super worried about the tfex's taking shots. suggestions please!

HQ:
Hive Tyrant, 2x twink linked devourers; wings: 230
Hive Tyrant, 2x twink linked devourers; wings: 230

Elites:
2x Zoanthrope: 100
2x Zoanthrope: 100
2x Zoanthrope: 100

Troops:
10x Genestealers: 140
10x Genestealers: 140
20x Hormaguants; adrenal glands: 140
20x Hormaguants; adrenal glands: 140

Fast Attack:
Harpy: 135
Harpy: 135

Heavy Support:
Tyrannofex; Rupture Cannon: 205pts
Tyrannofex; Rupture Cannon: 205pts

I think you drastically overestimate you effectiveness of your S10 shooting.

About Zoeys.
1) They only have 18" range on S10 shooting
2) They have a 17% chance of not even getting the shot off (rolling 5+6 or 6+6)
3) They have a 17% chance of wounding themselves (rolling a 1+1 or 6+6)
4) They have a 17% chance of being denied (rolling a 6 on Deny the Witch), which is higher in many, many situations, because many armies have buffs to Deny the Witch.
5) If they do get in range, cast the spell successfully, and don't get denied, then they miss 33% of the time.
6) If they do hit, they fail to wound 17% of the time, and many opponents will get cover / invul saves.
So I would rate the effectiveness of ZThrope Lance at less than 32% or Chance to get Shot off (.83) * Chance to not wound self (.83) * chance to not be denied (.83) * Chance to hit (.67) * chance to wound (.83)
That means you Zthropes 6 shots are statistically causing 2 wounds in ideal conditions (in range, no cover/invul, no Deny the Witch buffs).
So you are spending 150 points per wound.

About the Tyfex.
1) They have a 50% chance of missing.
2) They have a 17% of not wounding, and many opponents will get cover / invul saves.
3) On the plus side, they have good range, and are not psychic powers.
So their effectiveness is 42% or Chance to Hit (.5) * Chance to Wound (.83)
That means your TFexes 4 shots are statistically causing 1.67 wounds in ideal conditions (No Cover/ Invul)
So you are spending 246 points per wound

In total your 10 S10 shots are doing about 3 and 1/2 wounds.

If everyone you face is running 3-4 Landraiders this might be the way to go, but in most situations, you are better off with more efficient shooting.

If your goal is high volume of high strength shooting, space marines might be the way to go.

If your goal is to build a 'nid competitive, you might want to start by reviewing some of the Tyranid lists that did well recently at the LVO. For instance, Blackmoor did fairly well and posted his list about 2/3 of the way down the page here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1290/572843.page
