Imperial Guard Sentinel to Grot Tank, dimensions question

Hey dakka,
I am thinking about converting my horde of sentinels into grot tanks.
-Has anyone done this
-Does anyone know the size comparison; Is the cockpit of the sentinel the same size as the Grot Tank (minus treads) or is it only the size of the turret and thus needs the bulk of the tank where the treads snuggle against.

I have found that
-The sentinel cockpit is 20x30x40
-The Grot Tank is 47x50x50

The only problem is, I do know know how much and which part of the Grot Tank was measured for the dimensions.

Pics:

Imperial Guard Sentinel to Grot Tank, dimensions question

Well I honestly don't know as I have never handled either of these models but looking at those sizes I would say, for the grot tank, the measurements are from the far edge of the treads and to the to of the turret.

That said, I really don't think you should worry about it as the idea sounds really cool. By the time you've put tracks and a turret/weapon on then it will be a lot bigger anyway but a miniscule grot tank does sound to me like something that could be very fun and hilarious. I say just go for it!

Thank you for the support mate, makes me feel all green and shroomy inside.

Hmmm, do I hear "my first modelling blog" echoing in the distance?

Imperial Guard Sentinel to Grot Tank, dimensions question

I think, You don't need Sentinels to scratchbuild tanks. Because only weapon and exhaust pipes are useful there.
I suggest to make war cans / deffdreads from Sentinels, instead. It can be used in same army list.
And to make tanks from scratch or from proper sources like

Hmm interesting.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Sorry, sent the previous message right before I had to leave for the rat race.

I intend on using sentinels, besides these Wall-E treads I got are perfect size and overall it is fitting together.

Besides, I save the Heavy Support slot for Big Gunz and thus Dreads on their own 1) are alone and 2) have BS 2 which infers that they are ork-piloted unless I gave it skorchas or only DCCWs.
