I'm known for my orange Tyranids and am pretty comfortable with those techniques, but I've always felt the Eldar stuff I painted was very sub par and am always challenged by my wife's choice of easter colors.I wanted to try new things on it since its such a big model and it would be a large time investment. So I wanted to practice:

A) Building up colors so that the off white would have a gold glow to it (failed and it instead has a worn look, which I still like)
B) Practice sapphire gem stones (Realized I didnt have the right brush to get them exactly how I wanted and did the best with what I had)
C) OSL (Which I completely botched, learning afterwards that my first darkest color also needs to be the most thinned)
D) Painting patterns, like on the head. (Far away it looks great, up close not so much. The knights left side is very even, the other side pictured is not and poor. Needs a wash also)

First off, the window is where my tamaskan jumps up with muddy paws constantly to let me know he's ready to come in. I gave up cleaning it. Here it is so far:
