1750 Tau Enclave/White Scars

Really like this list, and have played several games with very simular builds at higher points levels. I've trimmed the basic core down to 1750 and would like any extra thoughts out there.

Farsight Enclaves Primary
HQ
(177) Commander Missile pod; Cyclic ion blaster; Target lock; Drone controller; The Talisman of Arthas Moloch; Marker drone (x2)

Elite
(215) Riptide Heavy burst cannon; Twin-linked fusion blaster; Early warning override; Earth Caste Pilot Array

Troops
(222) Crisis x3 (MP,MP, TL), bonded; Marker drone x4
(75) Kroot x10, Sniper rounds; kroot hound x1
(75) Kroot x10, Sniper rounds; kroot hound x1
(70) Kroot x10, Sniper rounds

Heavy Support
(256) Broadside x3, HYMP/SMS, TL x2, Bonded; Missile drone x4

White Scar allies
HQ
(275) Chapter Master Bike, Artificer, Shield eternal, Burning Blade

Troop
(190) Bike Squad x5, Grav Gun x2, Attack bike (multi melta)
(195) Bike Squad x5, Grav Gun x2, Attack bike (multi melta); Melta bombs (sarge)

The basics are simple, CM goes in the non melta bomb bike squad... both squads rush up the table with riptide behind them. Broadsides + one squad of kroot bubblewrap form a firebase midtable, while commander with crisis are mobile support. Other two kroot squads can stay off table or offer deployment options.

Alternate loadout would be to drop one kroot hound, and change the riptide to : Ion Accel, Twl plasma, EWO for anti heavy infantry duties, ECPA doesn't help as much... I honestly do not know which setup I perfer.

Anti MC... no a problem, Anti air... Broadsides can do their duty. Anti horde... bikes are a good screen (hit and run) + decent number of missile shots, at 1850 I would add a thunderfire. Anti armor... at 1750 not many av 14 to deal with and two squads of multi meltas + str 7 a plenty.

You have really good anti teq with the grav guns, keep the Riotide as is. Otherwise, this is a very interesting list. Hell I might try it out.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

The Iontide with plas and EWO is a bit of a personal playstyle choice, it is what I normally run, and a burstide is usaly my second choice, but is argueably the better choice for a ECPA.

But the iontide does have its advantages. Yes I have anti AP2 in the grav guns, but this may hurt some antitank ability -- I know str 7 shooting elsewhere, but not as mobile for hiding tanks -- a mobile str 9 ord blast, not to mention a large blast for anyone who happens to bunch up...

Like I said, I honestly do not know which one I perfer, I do think for this list the burstide IS the better choice.

At 1850 a thunderfire + iontide might be the way to go?

target locks on the broadsides isn't a great option in my opinion, I use ewo on mine. however I use the EWO for the sms to kill chaff troops like win-bikes or kroot.

I also use the burst-tide with great effect- they is something satisfying about a giant robot pumping out loads of shots.

Like the idea, only thing i would change is:

swap the CM for a captain with same gear.

the saved points allows you to swap a bike squad a 5 man command squad on bikes with apothecary and 4 grav guns.

this combo is dirty as and fits the scars theme.

They are much better suited to anti infantry roles. EWO = good great, don't deepstrike terminators anywhere I can see them, VT = not a good choice on them, compared to any other option listed. Note the broadside up there is just a single broadside.

broadside x3 without skyfire: 12 shots = 3 and 2/3 hits, 1.22222whatever fraction that is, of a HP lost.

STILL BETTER THAN AN IONTIDE.

just saying

EDIT: Also you can get into the psycology of forceing your opponent to Jink and just look at the number of hits. Once again the iontide is not that great IF we look at more hits = more likely to cause a jink.

This is something I have posted before about not putting skyfire on Iontides, but in comparison between any riptide and a broadside unit... I will take the boradsides.

The problem with the iontide is that as the game goes on past even turn 2, I'm willing to bet your markerlight support drops off quickly as the crisis squad with commander will take hits. Yes try to get them out of LOS but it is a large footprint and they will realisticly start to loose Markerlight support. Which is one of those reason I think the burstide works a bit better, it can work somewhat reliably without the support. Not to mention because of range it does tend to move forward with the bike squads, and an iontide more often sits in back. This list works aggressivly not timidly.

As to the EWOs on broadsides.. I like the idea, I will even try it out, but I think it largely depends on who you are playing. Target locks I end up using every single game. Maybe a bit like the Riptide where one definitly works better against some opponents and the other against the rest.
