				<title>1000 space marines first time</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Ive spent the last couple of weeks looking through the Space marine codex, trying to make a space marine list, originally I tried to make a assault army because I'm painting my marines Emperor's Children, but i couldn't figure out how to make them work in a 1000 points, in theory. I also struggled to understand the space marine codex, I just came over from <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> and Eldar, so I'm not used to small numbers. in the end i settled for a shooting army, its just what I already know. <br /> <br /> Librarian w/ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 2, terminator armour, storm shield				125<br /> 8 tactical marines w/ grav gun, 							127<br /> Drop pod									35<br /> <br /> 10 Tactical w/	plasma cannon, melta, sgr combi melta, melta bomb		180    (combat squad, melta, srg in razor back)<br /> Razor back w/lascannon,  twin linked plasma					75<br /> <br /> Vindicator w/ siege shield 							135<br /> Hunter 										70	<br /> <br />  3 Centurian w/ grav								250<br /> <br /> <br /> At my gaming group most lists ever have a monstrous creature (Riptide), or something that would hate to be immobilised (land raider), so thats why i took centurians, librarian and tactical in a drop pod was a shock unit with a basic shriek coming from the lib and hopefully a blessing or malediction as the second power for turn 2 buffing, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>de</span> buffing before assault.<br /> vindicator will be the distraction-ish unit, drop pod will have to be away from the vindicator's target, but will hopefully save the centurians.<br /> hunter because there are so many skimmers and flyer also at my group, and if they don't the its a good shield for the vindicator or razor back, and a lucky 6 will kill something.<br /> razor back for some armour as a melta squad goes up, and the plasma cannon for bye bye small squads.<br /> <br /> some feed back on this list would be good, but also if you know anything about running assault emperor's children It would be really nice.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Looks pretty good for a 1000 point list!<br /> <br /> Grav Centurions - ouch... that's gonna hurt, but I'd give them an omni-scope just in case (it's only 10 points) and split-fire is worth SO MUCH MORE than that! Even at the end it can be useful for just scattering 2 units off of objetives. I guess you just need to be sure to keep them in cover since they don't have an invuln save... not too sure what you would do if up against an enemy AP2 weapon that out-ranged them other than take cover.<br /> <br /> Maybe change the pod-squad to be a melta squad since they are dropping in anyway, so that you can pop a vehicle if you have to? (like an enemy vindicator that might threaten your centurions) I think that will be much more effective than the grav in the pod that you basically get 9" range out of for 2 shots. I'd give this squad melta, combi-melta, melta-bomb, and actually give the librarian the force stave (+2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span>) and make this your anti-vehicle unit.<br /> <br /> I love the Hunter. Good choice for the skimmers and single powerful shot. The type of air-units you really have to be afraid of could be easily penetrated by that thing (AV12), so I like it; although the stalker is nice too (2 sep. targets) for grounding <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(630);'>FMCs</span> for your Centurions to devastate.<br /> <br /> Vindicators are nasty, and I'd probably take it as well, but just throwing it out there... what about a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(420);'>TFC</span> instead? You have pretty good AP2 with the grav Centurions, maybe some good anti-horde from the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(420);'>TFC</span> would be good (and saves you 35 points)? Just a thought...<br /> <br /> Other than that, I'd say just lengthen the range on the 5-man <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(167);'>tac</span> squad component to be a lascannon just so they don't have to move beyond turn 1 probably to get range. 24" range on a heavy weapon can kinda be detrimental.. you have to move turn 1, probably turn 2, then fire turn 3 (can't snap shot blast marker weapons) so I like the lascannon or missile launcher better.<br /> <br /> Overall I like the list though! If you can scrape a few points together to get a 55 point bolter scout unit to outflank late game though, I think you'd be at a good advantage for troops in 1000 points... hmm where could that come from..]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Don't take a Grav gun on the Tacs.  Grav should be for relentless or Slow and Purposeful models to make the most of them.  I'd make it Meltagun/Combi Melta instead.<br /> <br /> I'd also consider not making the Libby ML2 (although not a horrible thing I find that 2nd power rarely gets used) and not taking Terminator armour on him.  At 1000 points you could use those points for so much more and the main reason for a vanilla Libby is a cheap, cheap <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span><br /> <br /> I'm not sold on Hunters.  They're ok.  I'd rather take more Tacticals <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(325);'>tbh</span>.<br /> <br /> A vindicator and Grav centurions at 1000 points is going to put some hurt on a lot of armies, for sure.  ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ What about something like this:<br /> <br /> Librarian - <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(347);'>lvl</span> 2, term., storm shield, force stave (maul), auspex 135<br /> <br /> Scout Squad - 5-man, bolters (outflank) 55<br /> Tactical Squad - 7-man, melta, combi-melta, melta bombs<br /> Tactical Squad - 10-man, lascannon (combat squad: sgt. in razorback, lascannon on foot)<br /> Razorback - lascannon, twin-linked plasma<br /> <br /> Devastator Centurians - 3-man, grav (no omni-scope, I broke my own rule to give the Libby an auspex for less cover on vehicle on the drop)<br /> Thunderfire Cannon (replacing Vindicator)<br /> Hunter<br /> <br /> ...just a variation to try maybe with another troop. Do you find yourself light on troops most games at this point level?]]></description>
