				<title>1500 Points of Tau - sans Riptides and Broadsides</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Trying to make a competative Tau list without using RIptides and Broadsides, my usual crutch when making a Tau list. It won't have any anti-flyer because I don't play against many. But I feel that I can take out a flyer or two if I had to. This list did very well against my nemisis, a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> player, who plays a fast list that always gives me fits.<br /> <br /> <b>HEADQUARTERS</b>	<br /> Commander w/ 2 Fusion Blaster, Target Lock, Drone Controller, 2 Gun Drones	-152 pts<br /> Commander w/ 2 Burst Cannons, Counterfire Defence, Drone Controller, 2 Gun Drones	-142 pts<br /> 	<br /> <b>ELITE</b>	<br /> (6) Steah Team 2 w/ Fusion Blasters and Target Lock, Shas'vre w/ VRT and 2 Gun Drones	-239 pts<br /> (3) Crissis Team w/ 2 Fusion Blasters each, 1 Target Lock 	-161 pts<br /> (3) Crissis Team w/ 2 Missile Pods each	-156 pts<br /> 	<br /> <b>TROOPS</b>	<br /> (12) Fire Warriors w/ Devilfish	-188 pts<br /> (12) Fire Warriors w/ Devilfish	-188 pts<br /> 	<br /> <b>FAST ATTACK</b>	<br /> (11) Drone Squadron w/ 10 Gun Drones	-154 pts<br /> (3) Piranha         -120 pts<br /> <br /> Commander with Fusion Blasters joins with the Stealth team and deepstrikes in. Commander with the Burst Cannons joins with the gun drone squad and deepstikes in. The Crissis Team with the Fusion Blaster Deepstrike in alone (Unless it makes more sense for one or more of the units not to deepstike in a particular game). They usually deepstrike in behind the main force and hit heavy armor/high value targets. The Fusion crissis suits and stealth team/commander are my anti-heavy armor and the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(518);'>MPs</span> and commander/gun drone squad can handle light armor. The piranhas are in here just to see if they fit and I will probably use them as a blocker unit to clow down a fast assaulting army. I used a Sky Ray when I played this list before and it might go back in if I find the piranhas aren't up to snuff.<br /> <br /> I'm honestly more of a quantity over a quality guy as I found out you can kill most things with overwhelming firepower. And I think this list has that. Now I do have an alternate list which is pretty much the same but is Farsight Enclave and I have a few less drones. It gives me the flexibility of using both crissis suit teams as troops. But costs 36 more points due to having to give everyone bonding knives (hence, less drones).<br /> <br /> So tell me what you think and if you have any tweeks. Keep in mind I will not add any Riptides or Broadsides.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Most of my ideas are kinda flavor vs changes:<br /> I would lose the Fusion Blaster Commander and get Shadowsun with a Command Link Drone, and have her Join the Crisis Suit Squad with Fusion Blasters. That squad would then be able to shoot Fusion Blasters at 3 different targets, and re-roll 1s.<br /> Have the Burst Cannon Commander join the stealth team, have the stealth team loos the fusion blasters, and be dedicated troop hunters, you've got a weeping ton of anti tank already. You can also lose the target lock from the squad.<br /> I would switch the 3rd Crisis Team to plasma Rifles, you have a lot of dedicated anti tank, but a solid heavy troop killer always helps.<br /> You didn't say what you were putting on the Fire warriors, but when I field them in a devilfish, I like to give them Pulse Carbines, so they can get the 48 shots at 18 inches.<br /> I would drop the gun drone squadron in favor of pathfinders. You can get 2 squads of 7 for the same price, and being able to "spot" for a volley fire from a Fire Warrior team can take them from good to holy god!<br /> Those Fusion Blasters you took from the Stealth team I would put on the Piranhas. Drop the Gun Drones as a squadron of 6 mid field, and go tank hunting with a fast skimmer.<br /> <br /> Those would be my changes, I hope they help. The only other thing I would say is, if you haven't played Darkstrider, give him/her a try with a squad of Fire Warriors with Plasma Carbines. Unit is dead killy. I love the look on a Tyranid player's face the first time they hear "and your toughness is at a -1 to all of these S5 shots..." and you can totally "lead" a assault squad by the nose ring with Darkstrider's precharge consolidation move.]]></description>

I love the look on a Tyranid player's face the first time they hear "and your toughness is at a -1 to all of these S5 shots..." and you can totally "lead" a assault squad by the nose ring with Darkstrider's precharge consolidation move.</div></blockquote><br /> Thank you for the suggestions, but I'm not looking for a change of flavor of the list, just some tweeks to get the most out of it.<br /> <br /> I don't use pulse carbines because of the following:<br /> From 30" to 18" Pulse Rifles get 1 shot, Carbine get 0<br /> From 18" to 15" Rifles get 1 shot Carbines get 2<br /> From 15" to 0" Rifles get 2 shots, Carbines get 2<br /> So Carbines are only more effective than Rifles between 18" and 15". I will never assault with Tau and pinning isn't that big of a deal.<br /> <br /> The commander is with the gun drone squad because he has Drone Controller making those 11 gun drones <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(14);'>BS</span> 5. So I get 22 twin-linked <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(14);'>BS</span> 5 shots from the drones and another 8 from the Commander. This unit is very useful at killing trops big and small and taking out AV10-11 vehicles.<br /> The second commander is with the stealth team to give me the ability to shot 4 fusion blasters at one target and 24 shots at another target. I only have 2 anti-heavy armor units. I would take Shadowsun if she had drone controller and put her with the gun drones to give that squad stealth. I don't use pathfinders because I have had little success with them and their marker lights. I find marker lights to be unreliable and expensive. I perfer target saturation. Also, I find that to get the most out of my pathfinders I have to have them up from in many cases. And they become expenisve speed bumps. Keep them back where it is safe and I limit the targets that I can mark. But this isn't the list for them as I'm trying to keep it a fast moving and flexible list.<br /> <br /> Darkstrider is an interesting idea, but not thrilled with the fact he has a carbine and not a rifle. And I found that I often fight faster armies or I'm always hanging out in ruins and there isn't always a lot of room to move back. Besides, I need both my crissis suit commanders.]]></description>
