Arco-Flagellent army?.

So to go with my Inquisition themed IG army, I've decided to incorporate some Arco-flaggellents.

My question is, would Arco-flagellents be used as a base of an army?…

I mean, Intelligent inquisitional forces could simply command an army of flagellants around with their pacifier helmets on couldn't they? it stated once that a flagellant could be just commanded to walk and shuffle around whilst they were dormant.

Could it work fluff wise?.

As a base? No. Arco-Flagellants are not "tactical" operatives. You don't tell them "take that hill, hold it, wait for the armor to arrive to support you, then advance on that bunker".

You point arco-flagellants towards the enemy, turn them on, and get the hell out of the way.

With the controller helmets on, they are "docile", yes. But when they are off they are in a pain-and-faith-induced berzerker rage.

A pacified Arco-Flagellant is not combat safe. It's not represented in the rules, but while pacified, the Flagellant won't take cover, it won't even duck when it gets hit by an artillery barrage. While unpacified, as Psienesis says, it just charges towards the nearest thing with a threat indicator and tries to kill it.

I guess your right to be honest, is there any Inquisitorial force which could act as base troops?…such as some form of flagellant, I've seen pictures of people covered in something like barbed wire with a chainsword in hand, is there any info for who they are? or are they just priests and repenters?.

Inquisitorial Storm-Troopers. The Inquisition does maintain its own standing armies, for when "subtle" is not the order of the day. Sometimes, you have to crush heretics, Xenos and traitors with an overwhelming display of firepower. Wise are those who learn from the deaths of others.

Barbed-wire and chainswords might be any hyper-fanatical citizen, or could be a Sister Repentia, or some sort of tribal warrior, depending on the specifics of the look.

I guess i could use flagellants, but do some home-brew lore…such as saying there was someone on the sideline directing them around in some manner…i guess i could also store the flagellants in some sort of transport vehicle such as a crassus, and then once battle commences, they charge out going crazy as elites fire from the sidelines, such as some sort of D-Day charge. I also think that i could justify firing from the flagellants…maybe making my own type of them which carry guns built into their backs.

I know i sound picky, but i think that i would like a more grim Inquisition army…stormtroopers may be fluffy but don't really get my fancy. I could probably just use hyper fanatical citizens as base troops and the flagellants as shock troops...

Yep, the Stormtroopers answer to the Inquisition before they answer to the Guard, in some cases.

If you want a more ragged/fanatical type look, you're best off fielding Warrior Acolytes with mixed weapons.

That sounds good, i might do the idea of the Warrior acolytes and citizens as main troops, with the idea of the flagellants in the transports.

It seems more fluffy to have the flagellants thrown out of the transports in hordes first, and then have swarms of priests and repenters attack afterwards.

Sorry I've been such a whiny guys

Re:Arco-Flagellent army?.

(Sorry guys, the multi quote seems to be going weird for me)

Ive decided to make the hyper fanatical citizens out of a flagellant war band kit from fantasy, painting the cloaks red and maybe adding some inquisition cloaks over the faces. Im then doing the arco-flagellents by getting crypt ghouls, sculpting the pacifier helms which will be easy with GS, then adding nuts and blots and mechanicum stuff…and then adding the weapons! voila!.

On the topic of my fluffy tactics. Ive been thinking about using THE CRASSUS TRANSPORT TANK (i get the reference ) for a while, it seems it would provide good cover for my fanatics whilst they push up with the priests and such…and then at the climax the massive hordes of flagellants flood out and chop the enemies to pieces, I'm thinking what unit in my guard codex to substitute them for though…if i need my idea to work, i need a proper storm troop unit to allow them to get into melee and swarm the enemy…the crazed priests/repentors will just be normal guardsmen, so I've been just doubting what to do about the arco flagellants.

On the topic of veterans too, what shall i do for veterans?
