You might end up waiting on buying the SM codex, it's the most expensive one, its 90 before tax. In canada that means your entire budget basically goes to the codex.

I am very sorry to hear that, my condolences go out to you and your family.

On the note of buying an army, I am actually trying to sell my space marines. Here is what I have to sell that I have made up into two lists:

List 1:
HQ:
Librarian in terminator armor- 90pts

Troops:
1. 5 man tac squad, pistol/ccw sergeant, flamer- 75pts
2. 5 man tac squad, pistol/ccw sergeant, flamer- 75pts
3. 5 man tac squad, pistol/ccw sergeant, flamer- 75pts

Elites:
5 man terminator squad/ assault terminators (I have 5x stormbolter/powerfist arms and 5 pairs of lightning claw arms to go on 5 terminator bodies)- 200pts

Heavy Support:
1. Predator w/ TL lascannon turret and two side sponson lascannons- 140pts
2. Predator w/ TL lascannon turret and two side sponson lascannons- 140pts
3. Whirlwind- 65pts

Total: 860pts

List 2:
HQ:
Chapter Master, Storm Bolter- 135pts

Troops:
1. 5 man tac squad, Missile launcher- 85pts
2. 5 man tac squad, Missile launcher. CCW/pistol - 85pts
4. 5 man Scouts squad pistol/CCW- 55pts
5. 7 man scouts squad, 6 sniper rifles, Mlauncher, camo cloaks- 112pts

Heavy Support:
1. 5 man devastator squad, 2 Lascannons, 2 Missile Launchers- 140pts
2. 5 man devastator squad 2 Heavy Bolters, 2 Missile Launchers- 120
3. 5 man devastator squad 2 Plasma Cannons, 1 Multi Melta- 110

Total: 842pts

When adding your 10 space marines to list one, the total is exactly 1000pts. When adding your 10 space marines to list two, the total is 982.

Tactics:
List 1- Have your terminator librarian join the 5 man terminator squad. Use the predators to pop transports and other armor. Engage the contents of destroyed transports or other big mean units with terminators. Use tac squads to advance with terminators and provide fire support as well as sitting on objectives. Use the whirlwind to sit behind a building and bombard the enemy troops that are easy to kill.

List 2- Since this list is full on infantry, you will make the enemy have wasted their points when they bought their anti AV. Troops will sit back and lob missiles and bolter fire from objectives. The CCW scout squad will infiltrate and take out anything that you need to die or get tangled in close combat in the beginning turns. The lascannon/missile dev team will be used to take out armor from across the board. The heavy bolter/missile dev team will be used to take out heavy troops advancing or light AV. The Plasma/MM dev team will be used to take out 2+ save units such as terminators.

As for price, I would sell the first list to you for $180 +shipping and the second list for $130 +shipping.

Edit: I have both of these armies, so if you want both of them or to switch some of the models back and forth that would be fine.
