Few question regarding black legion painting?

Hey Dakkas

Looking for some guidance in painting black legion possessed space marines, so few questions come in mind. But first of all, I'm painting the iron trims all gold cause it looks nice to eyes instead of silver and only pads in gold. So off with the questions!

1. Can I use Dwarf bronze as a base for gold layer(s) later on? Or is it better to use foundation brown or such?
2. Do you dilute all paint to milky consistency or can I use 1:1 mix drop for flat surfaces such as iron trims? Having problem with paint not sticking too well or having little effect in actually painting, and slipper as hell (even after I've primed the model in black)
3. Do you wash your all of your Black Legion with one wash, or use separate ones? For example, for gold trims only I'm not sure weather to use devlan mud or Gryphone Sepia, and black wash for metallic areas?
4. Which wash would be best for bone/blood/flesh like material (like the skin was ripped off and you can see red flesh and muscles) Can I use ogrny wash for this?
5. Any tips on painting horns? I was thinking bleached bone and highlight with skull white? (Didn't find much quality black legion painting guides)
6. For highlights on black, would codex grey and fortress grey for extreme highlights look good on black legion? I've seen few guides that suggest Eshin Grey (which I have no idea what that is) -does that mean I should mix codex grey with black and use pure codex for 2nd highlights and fortress for extreme?

Think that's pretty much it from what I can remember... First time painting chaos, bit confused but fun as hell tho

Few question regarding black legion painting?

1. Brown foundation.
2. 1:1 paint/water is a good place to start. How much you thin your paints is really a trial and error thing. Thinner paint will look smoother and keep more detail, but takes longer because you need multiple coats. You have to figure out what works for you to get results you are happy with. Also, different paints and model areas require different amounts of thinning.
3. Paint the colors you are using on a piece of sprue and try different washes on them to see which one you like best. There's no wrong and right.
4. Not sure what you're thinking of here, bone and blood probably wouldn't use the same wash. Try if out.
5. Bleached bone, black/brown wash and highlight sounds good. You could also look at tutorials for other models with horns, there are lots.
6. Eshin Grey is a Citadel paint. As far as I can remember it's about half way between white and black.

I always though that I needed to dilute the paint to milky consistency which gave me hard time on flat surfaces, when I felt that there really was no need for so much diluting

I'll give a third option a go, good call..

As for 4th, its basically a bone piercing from armor with a little blood on it at the start, and rest it bone, that's why I've considered one wash for that. I'll check for the bone tutorial.
