new addon to my army suggestions

First, Welcome to Dakka.

If you don’t have your codex, that should be top of your list.

What kind of budget are you working with? What kind of playstyle do you like? What size list are you looking to get to?

A good first expansion thing to get after the starter set is a box of Devastators. This will give you more weapon options, and are not bad on the table these days.

You are probably going to want another box of tactical marines. In my average 1,500 point list, I run two full 10 man squads and a 5 man unit of scouts.

If you have the budget for it, I’d recommend picking up the strikeforce box. While a little pricy, it is one of the few places you can get a discount, and judging from your flag, you need as many of those as you can get.

Some strong units out there right now are bikes, thunderfire cannons, sternguard, and centurions (shooty ones)

There are as many ways to build a marine army as there are players, so it’s hard to give advice in a vacuum.

Which, coincidentally, is how I field my tactical terminators when they hit the table. Not hyper-competitive, but a good all around build for casual play.

Captain should probably be fielded a artificer armor, relic blade. Not the strongest load for him, but inexpensive and should get the job done.

Librarian is force sword/bolt pistol. Good HQ for keeping points down, can upgrade to level 2 in larger games.

Bikes can take advantage of more special weapons then the one plasma gun this squad comes with. While grav gun have overshadowed plasma guns on bikes, the old faithful can still blow holes in things. Getting a second set of the DV bikers would not be a bad call. Run the squad as a 5 man, duel plasma squad and modify the extra sarge into a captain/chapter master on a bike.

Plasma cannon/plasmagun is an OK load for a tac squad. Plasma pistols are massively overpriced, especially on sergeants.

And while I’m here rambling, some more generic advice for the OP.

Magnets. They are your friend. You don’t need them everywhere, but they can help stretch you hobby dollar by allowing you to mix things up. Starting early is better then retrofitting later.

The sternguard and vanguard kits are packed full of all sorts of extra bits. Picking these up will let you build all sorts of cool looking minis. If you want to build a WYSWYG army, you will find pretty much every option in one of these two kits. The sternguard kit is the better of the two, but I’m fond of both. The kit is so full of extras you can add 5 tactical marines worth of parts and end up with a full 10 man sternguard squad that is still distinctly more ornate then your average trooper.
