][nquisition Kill Team

SO. My Local Gaming Store is starting a new campaign in May and it revolves around Inquisitors and their Warbands. One Saturday a month there will be 1500 point games where you can take what ever army you like and you must ally in the Inquisitor and their Warband (which I'm not sure if I will play in or not) but on a single Tuesday a month, the Warbands will be facing off in a Kill Team setup. We will be playing 250 and you can only take 1 Inquisitor with his/her warband. That said, I expect lots of psykers but the rest of the meta is pretty unclear.

Here is what I'm planning to run.

Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lord - Upgrade to Psyker and Power Armor with a Combi Flamer and Null Rod - 98
Ministorum Priest with Feel No Pain Specialist USR- Eviscerator and Storm Bolter - 60
6 Arco-Flagellants (1 with Hammer of WRATH, 1 with Stealth)- 90

Thoughts? Questions, Comments, Concerns? Ideas on what the meta will look like with only Warbands available?

Thanks for reading.

She's a witch!! Burn her!!

][nquisition Kill Team

Given the effectiveness of shooting in a small squad scenario, and the relative difficulty of assault in 6th and kill team especially, I would opt for a little more in the way of shooting. Maybe ease off on having just flagellants and chuck in some henchmen with some more ranged threat. Storm bolters are not to be underestimated at this scale.

A razorback at this points level would be interesting, or even a chimera would be better. Being hunkered down in the vehicle and being able to shoot out is pretty handy.

I think maybe your inquistor is also trying to do too much. Null rod is cool if you're expecting lots of other psykers but is less effective since it can only protect the inquisitor from psychic attacks, as he is only ever a squad of one. That's a lot of points just to save him. His combi flamer is also less useful as models are generally less bunched in kill team. Combi plas or melta is probably more helpful. Either that or go malleus, terminator armour and a psycannon. There are loads of ways to run him but I think presently he isn't doing that much till he gets really close- by which point he's more vulnerable.

I'd go more like this:

Inquistor, malleus, terminator armour, psycannon 80

Chimera, exchange multilaser turret for heavy bolter, psybolt ammo 60

Henchmen warband :110
1 DCA
1 arco flagellant
6 henchmen, all carapace armour, 4 storm bolters, 2 plasma guns.

250 total.

You've got a mobile bunker to shoot from with your special weapons, some combat specialists if that's what's required. A boat load of shooting from the chimera, the inquisitor and the henchmen. Sprinkle on some specialist rules to taste.

Sorry if all that sounded too negative about your list- didn't intend to be overly critical but got a bit carried away thinking about it.

Henchmen with storm bolters or special weapons will be deadly, they're super cheap and there are no wasted bodies like in a Guard squad. 5 shooty guys and 5-7 assaulty guys in a chimera would be pretty deadly.

@Reanimator - I don't think you can have 2+ saves in a kill team unless they have some special stipulation like being able to have the Inquisitor, so no terminator armor/psycannon unfortunately.

Thanks for the C&C. I think I'll try to mix these ideas together.

Also, just for clarification, the Inquisitor MAY take the 2+. Nobody else can.

I really like the idea of my Inquisitor being a Psyker Hunter. If he has the null rod, he can insta-gib out any Inquisitors who are Psykers. I also like the idea of the Ministorum Priest with Rerolls on his Invulnerable and with FNP giving him tons of survivability. He takes an eviscerator and then he can also Intant Death opposing Inquisitors.

I was setting this up with the intent of very intentionally using matchups to my advantage, so the Inquisitor and Priest go after the opposite Inquisitor, while the rest take off the rest.

I think I'll replace 3 of the Arcos with Acolytes with Combi Melta (if they take vehicles), Combi Plasma (going for the ranged threats) and Combi Flamer (if they go Acolyte blob).

I dont own any imperial models whatsoever (staunch pointy eared player) and I dont much fancy meching up, just for this. My experience with Dark Eldar is that give someone a single target and they know exactly where to shoot. Since I can't saturate their targets, the Jokaeros and servitors will wreck that single tank fast as all hell.

I'm not sure if psykers would really be a big enough problem to warrant the null rod though. Unless I'm mistaken, they can only buff one individual model with a power (or themselves). If they roll on the chart they might get something good, but there are so many shooting options available to you that ignore 2+ saves and ID T3 inquisitors (who will be chilling by themselves) it would probably be easier to just kill him from halfway across the board.

It would be fun if you made it work perfectly, but I can't see it coming into play in more than 1/10 games at most unless the psychic powers buff everyone, which I don't believe works in KT.

Edit: You could always go down the Psyocculum road and give him a Combi-plasma. 2+ re-rollable to hit, 2+ to wound, aaaaand dead opposing psyker. Also retains the bolt gun which will continue to kill henchmen.

If going against warbands most saves your opponents will have wont be fantastic apart from on Inquisitors themselves and crusaders (which are invulns anyway). Also Im assuming the inquisitor as leader gets the usual bonuses for kills in a game to upgrade him for the next games? If so a sythian venom talon with digi weapons will be worth its weight in gold. He will have 4 attacks and pretty much be auto wounding with each one!

With that in mind I would equip him thus:

Ordo xenos inquisitor
Power armour, sythian venom talon, digi weapons, bolt pistol.
(53pts)

Chimera
2 heavy bolters, psybolts

3 acolytes with plasma guns (in chimera)

4 acolytes with bolters (2 in chimera)
175pts

Leaving you with 75pts. Now whilst their power wepons may be a little wasted on anything barring an inquisitor, I would then take 5 DC assassins. 4 st4 I6 ws5 attacks on the charge will gut anything in an opposing warband on the charge and you still have a mean amount of shooting despite investing 30% of your points into DC assassins. You never know - somebody may have dekked their acolytes out in power armour...

Yeh 10pts for a st3 large blast that goes off over 58% of the time is absurdly broken in kill teams. 70pts for 7 of them (if taking 3 plasma acolytes and 2 bolter/stormbolter acolytes in the chimera)... that'll make everyone moan.

I'm not so sure the psykers are that great. With spacing in kill team it's unlikely you'll get more than one hit per blast. Then it just becomes another st3 shot that can kill its user if you roll poorly on the psychic test.
