My little brother was the first to introduce me to 40K many years ago, and now we've gotten a few friends involved with the view of starting a casual thing at our place. 750pts was what we decided as we all wanted relatively small armies to begin with.

So far, all of 5 have chosen a different team. We have Orks, Imperial Guard, Tau, Necron and GK (Me).

What I'd like the board's feedback on is an army list which will be relatively competitive against the above armies. I'm more of a painter than a player so any strategy tips would be greatly appreciated.

Below are the units I have access to so far. Some are remnants from when my younger brother once played a Space Marines team.

Lord Kaldor Draigo. I bought him out of excitement without even knowing his points cost of 275. Yikes! My only option for HQ...
2 X boxes of GK terminators.
1 X GK's
Land Raider. Thankfully unpainted so I can use in my army.
Venerable Dreadnought. I painted him in GK colours years ago as a standalone exercise, and he's actually the main reason I chose GK for my army this time round.

Secondly 750 for GK will be easy, as you can take about 10 models, If proxy is allowed I would use draigo as a "counts as" grand master.

So if the above is cool then a list would look something like this:

Hq- grand master with Sword/Psycannon/rad grenades/psyk grenades/-250

So this guy is your beat stick, with a 4+ inv in CC thanks to sword he can tank as well as shred anything with a 3+ armour.

Troops- GKTS x5 -200*2=400

These guys are you hammer units, they shoot well and in CC are great against anyone who doesn't ignore their armour, as a weapons mix I suggest justicar with sword so in a challenge he can survive any AP2 attacks with a 4+ inv, and then 3 halberds and 1 hammer for AT.

Troops- GKSS x5- 100

These are your back field objective campers if you want give one a psilencer for free and shoot with 6 shots, like 3 bolters in 1.

This comes to 750 exactly, hope it helps and, Have fun!.
