I can fully recommend the vallejo poly primer.it is just great! I use light grey. It is a perfect basecolour for pre shading. You don't have to thin down the primer. You can use it straight from the dropper.

Airbrush Primer for GW / FW models?

I second the Vallejo Surface Primer. The stuff is fantastic. Word of caution though It looks dry after a few minutes but needs a few hours to fully cure. Also a little goes a long long way.

I use vallejo primers. I don't know if I should be thinning them with airbrush thinner or if that's bad. Does anyone know about this?

From their website, with my own emphasis added:

Vallejo wrote:Waterbased Poliurethane Primer. This Surface Primer can be used directly or mixed with other Auxiliary products like Varnishes, Mediums, etc. It is recomended to avoid mixing Surface Primer with alcohol and/or solvents. Apply with airbrush or brush. This Surface Primer has a selflevelling matt finish of extraordinary hardness and resistence, and does not hide details.

Perfect as a ground for plastic, brass, resin, etc. Surface Primer can be cleaned easily using water; for a more thorough cleaning we recomend Airbrush Cleaner (Ref.71.099)

Most people seem to use it neat (myself included), but it sounds like airbrush thinner shouldn't hurt it.

Airbrush Primer for GW / FW models?

Do a search on "airbrush primer".

This gets asked about every month or so.

However....the majority of responses will be the same -
The vallejo surface primer.

It is absolutely amazing. Just make sure to let it fully cure 24 hours.

It even comes in a variety of colors.

Airbrush Primer for GW / FW models?

I use Vallejo primer with the Vallejo thinner in my airbrush. I can use it out of the bottle, but it constantly clogs the damn thing even if I crank the pressure pretty high. So instead I just thin it, spray from slightly further away and run 2 coats of it.

When it dries, it does have a slightly rubbery quality to it (hard to tell on the model, but if you just spray a blob on your palette, when it's dried you can tell it's more rubbery than typical paint).
