Re:Up-armored Hummer the size of a Taurox?

Not sure where you could find said Hummer model, but try Revell Monogram or some kind of 1/24th scale model car maker. 1/24 scale might not be the size you want but that's a start... I'm sure there is a smaller scale.

Any kind of stand in for the Taurox would be great really. There are some good conversions showing up on Dakka, but I think unless you wanted that steampunk/bolt-on look, a more traditional military vehicle will suit most people better.

edit: here is a good place to look...

http://www.modelcars.com/model-kit-search.html?search=Military&Search.x=20&Search.y=11

And another link...

http://www.accurate-armour.com/aaproducts.cfm?navlevel=1

Up-armored Hummer the size of a Taurox?

Rather than a very large HMMV kit, which will tend to look like a very large HMMV, I would recommend looking at the various MRAP and wheeled APC type vehicles. Some examples:

http://www.hlj.com/product/TRP01541/Mil
http://www.hlj.com/product/TRP01506/Mil
http://www.hlj.com/product/KNEK61011/Mil
http://www.hlj.com/product/HEL81141/Mil
http://www.hlj.com/product/HEL81130/Mil
http://www.hlj.com/product/TRPMCT903/Mil

Up-armored Hummer the size of a Taurox?

Haven't really been paying that close of attention to the actual size of the Taurox - but a 1/48 scale hummer would be tiny for 40K. It isn't a big vehicle in real life, and due to the wonky nature of 40K vehicles, it will end up looking miniscule.

If you want an alternative for the Taurox, I would suggest this one though:

http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Military_Vehicles/chevrolet-gun-tractor-15cwt/ITL00000240/product.php?kw=tractor

Proportions should be pretty close - but I would need to double check the dimensions. Based off past experience though - it should be about right.

Up-armored Hummer the size of a Taurox?

1/35 up armored or 1/48 might work. I use 1/48 planes for bits and they tend to work. One of those things where you might need to buy 2 and try them out. I'd probably go 1/35 first, the models aren't but maybe $15.

Not 100% how it works out, but in the past I've used 1/35 ground vehicles with success and 1/48 air vehicles with success.

Up-armored Hummer the size of a Taurox?

Measure the Taurox model and calculate its dimensions in 1/48th and 1/35th scale, then pick a kit that fits as close as you can find.

The Quad tractor is a good thought.
