AM - Wyrdvane Psyker Insta-fix

I was thinking about wyrdvane psykers, mostly how they cost more than Primaris, have lower leadership, and can't join squads. So half the powers they can take will only affect a useless unit of laspistol wielding weaklings. But I thought up a potential rules fix. Add the following special rules.

Strength in Numbers: the psykers have trained together for years and learned how to bolster the psychic focus of one another, allowing them to operate as a seamless team in battle. For every 4 psykers in the squad, the Wyrdvane Psyker squad gains a mastery level. So a squad of 8 counts as mastery level 2 and can roll for 2 powers and generate 2 warp charges. However, if the squad is reduced below 8 members, they will only generate 1 warp charge per turn. If the squad is reduced below 4 members, the unit's connection with the warp grows increasingly unstable, when attempting to cast with 3 or fewer psykers left, any failed psychic tests will result in perils of the warp.

Psionic Bridge: the wyrdvane psykers have proven themselves in battle and and are able to sustain one another over the swirling chaos of war, and the distances across a battlefield are insignificant when measured against their psychic connection to one another across the warp. At the start of the game, you may opt to individually embed your wyrdvane psykers in your infantry squads, rather than deploying them as a single squad. Your psykers may be allocated among your squads, in the exact same way that commissars may be allocated, there is no limit to how many psykers you can embed in a given squad, and any left over psykers may be deployed into a separate wyrdvane squad (of as few as 2 models). Your psykers move and act exactly like model of their embedded unit, however, when manifesting psychic powers, you may use any of your wyrdvane psykers to cast the unit's spell. So you might have five psykers in five different units, across the battlefield, but the psykers connect to one another mentally, allowing any one of them to manifest the psychic power, or allowing two of them to manifest one power if there are at least eight of them remaining. The Strength in Numbers rule applies to the total number of members still alive, regardless of whether they are in the same unit. However, any perils of the warp attack must strike the casting model.

Why is this good? Because it allows the player to keep his wyrdvane psykers spread out, allowing you to use their powers when and where they are needed. The other side is, of course, they are only leadership 8, and I really think the size of the squad should make them more or less powerful, like it did in 5th. I like this idea because it is consistent with the IG/AM style, throw enough of these guys into the battle and maybe they'll make a difference.

Thoughts?
